Not use him in either of 2 games coming up, let’s him showcase an entire SEC game at home for next staff. Still keeps his RS year.

If Nuss shows out, he makes O look like a total arse.

He likely sits.

I don't understand redshirting him unless he plans to play elsewhere for 4 years. If we keep recruiting well at QB, we're going to have a logjam. If we have a logjam, it may become more difficult to recruit well at QB.

They should have played him against Alabama then shut him down for the year. What in the hell were we waiting for?

He’s our only backup, that’s not really an option

Max Johnson is going to start the rest of this year and he will beat Nuss out next year. If you're waiting on something other than that for your head to explode, go ahead and brace yourself.

Ideally he comes in during the 4th quarter against Alabama and leads a game winning TD drive and keeps his RS.

Honestly, what’s the point. I’d rather keep starting Max Johnson and increase the likelihood that his brother, the top senior TE in the nation, remains an LSU commitment.

If there was ever a game to put him in, it was Saturday. Depleted LSU team playing WAY over expectations. The defense dominating a good offensive team. Everyone on the LSU sideline believing they could win the game. All that was missing was a spark from the QB spot.

If you were worried about burning his redshirt then sit him in the final 3. A win on Saturday would have been HUGE for the immediate future of the program. It would have shown the CFB world that LSU isn't dying. Just a few tweaks and they are right back among the championship contenders.

I though Orgeron owed it to every other guy busting his arse out there to give them a glimmer of hope when it became clear the QB play just wasn't going to be enough to win the game. And if Nuss is ANY type of competitor (and I think he is), he would have LOVED the opportunity to try to give LSU the win and immediately etch himself into LSU football lore.

With that game over, I think you stick with Johnson (at least for the next two). If the defense can give you anything close to the effort they gave you on Sat. night then that should be enough to keep you in the game, at home, vs. Arkansas. Right now, all LSU really has to play for his pride. And the biggest game left is the finale vs. A&M. Save Nussmeier's availability for that one.

I don't give a shite if LSU doesn't play in a bowl game. Just beat A&M at all costs. I would LOVE to see the melt from their fans if their $95 million HC lost to a mediocre LSU team with a lame duck HC. Particularly, if LSU's bozo AD has any aspirations of paying MORE to bring A&M's HC here.

Unless we plan to have a UGA level defense next year, we won’t get where we want to be with Max Johnson

He isnt horrific, but he isn’t a QB that can consistently be the reason you win games

A new coaching staff will have no favorites and owe no one on the team anything. If Max starts over Nuss next year, it means that he's better and beat him out for the job. The disappointment would be that Max is the best we have for next year.

Glad for you to join us this morning Max! Nice try though, it was literally because of you that we lost that Bama game. You can not look anywhere else.

He's basically his Dad. A QB who is good enough to win you a lot of games if, IF all of the other aspects are perfect (see the Tampa Bay defenses of the early 2000's). But he's not really a guy with the physical ability to overcome weaknesses elsewhere. He's pretty good at making the "right" play most of the time. He's just rarely makes the "big" play.

In small glimpses, Nussmeier looks to have the ability and moxie to make the "big" play. Now, he may be more apt to make the wrong play also. But like you said, unless LSU has a dominant defense like UGA has this season, you just can't win a championship by hiding your QB.

That’s BS , we had a logjam 13 months ago, and then TJ transfers, Brennan flip flops, and we got Starter who started two games, and a 18yr old backup, You can think you got a Logjam and then no Logs, it’ll work itself out because it has to

The Rant.

Forever where the backup QB is always 10x better than the starter.

I member the days in June, July, and early August of "Bench Brennan, start Max"
