I’d take Pat Casey over Bianco at this point

It would never happen but, the point remains.. Casey could take the current roster and make it into a title contender within the next 3 years. Bianco is going to waste the young talent we have for the next ~6 years before getting replaced again.

By that point, LSU will have a farther gap between the powers of the SEC which includes Vandy, Miss St, UF and, now, Tenn.

It would be such a failure if Bianco is the hire and Godwin gets snatched up by OM. I cannot stress enough how bad Bianco would fare at LSU. It’s CPM 2.0

I'd take the Pedo pitcher over Bianco.

He will be appreciably worse than Paul was

Add Arkansas and A&M in two years after Schlossnagle.

Woodward should recognize that he’s badly fricked this up if bianco and Godwin are really the last two candidates. He should fly to Oregon immediately and refuse to leave without pat Casey. Offer him $2mm

I would hope AT ANY POINT you would take a 3x national championship HC (the last coming two full seasons ago) over a guy who has only made the CWS once in 20 years.

Anybody that wouldn't take Pat Casey over Bianco is an absolute fool....their opinion is basically invalid.

I don't want Bianco but acting like Maineiri 2.0 is a terrible thing doesn't make sense. Are we supposed to act like Mainieri didn't have a good tenure and it was just time for a change?

Sounds like Casey’s name was floated to judge fan reaction…so good job to everyone, I guess. Unrealistic expectations have haunted and will continue to haunt this program.

So it's foolish to prefer the guy who won three national titles over the guy who's had one CWS appearance?

Yeap. Bianco would be the most underwhelming hire.

The reason for dropping Casey from consideration is absurd.

Then why not just keep Mainieri 1.0? In no rational line of thinking do you force out a guy in a effort to, at best, achieve the same level of success that apparently wasn't good enough under Mainieri.

You're right. Mainieri wasn't bad by any means. But presumably the ENTIRE point of the coaching change was to get BETTER than the current status quo

Ehhh???

I'm saying the opposite of what you are saying....it is foolish to take the guy with 1 CWS birth over the guy with 3 titles.

It's crazy to accept a lateral move.

You are saying that you are good with 1 title over the next 15 years when we have the resources to hire someone that could potentially get more???

Is a pretty good candidate - not mad he's a finalist.

It should be between him and McDonnell.

Can they drop Casey's name again to gauge newfound interest?
