How often has this happened?
This would be like saying the Superdome really needs to do something about their power outage problem.

You aren't very smart. You are arguing something that I am not arguing. Someone said out tickets are expensive. I said they are not expensive compared to other schools. Talking about the elasticity of demand and substitute goods is retarded. I realize you just made a C in Charles Roussell's Econ 2030 last semester and want to show all of us how smart you are, but it really isn't relevant. I am strictly talking about ranking the tickets in order from most expensive to least expensive.
I'm going to resist the temptation to insult you or call you names or even be condescending to you. As a fellow LSU fan, you deserve at least my attempt to be respectful to you.
That said, ranking the tickets from most to least expensive tells you nothing about the elasticity of demand of LSU's tickets. They aren't perfect substitutes for sure, and probably aren't even substitutes. Since each fan base is fragmented and has different income characteristics, and because LSU has substantially less big businesses that are unique to its community than most other big programs, I don't think your argument holds any water as it bears on the issue of demand and the price in this market. That being said, you are right that LSU is at the bottom of the high end of ticket prices.

He just told you that was not what he was arguing. Come on, man

No. Where did I say it was okay for them to run out of water?
Not sure why that happened, but that doesn't take away from the fact that about 90% of the complaints on this board are stupid.

Something about how tickets prices are rising and one guy won't stand for it any more and is going to express his discontent by continuing to buy the tickets and sell them on the secondary market.

No kidding dude, hence the reason why I told you that you bringing that up made absolutely no sense. I am not talking about supply and I am not talking about demand. I am also not talking about substitute goods.
My comment was to be taken literally when I said we have cheap tickets compared to other schools. That means make a list of all 123 FBS schools and the prices of their season tickets. I literally only care about the number of dollars (donations, face, etc) that is required for a fan to put their arse in a seat for each of the home football games.
LSU will not be in the top 10 on that list.

Although I'm not sure where exactly they are on the list, if they aren't at the bottom of the top 10, they are going to be closer to 10 than 20 I would presume, no?

No chance. LSU season tickets might be expensive in LSU fans minds, however, they really are not all that expensive.

I would be interested to know where exactly they fall. Forgive me if Cf. PaG86 isn't enough. Do you know of a link. I can't seem to find anything using the google machine.

Turns out, according to Forbes, we are seventh.
LINK
So, looks like you may be mistaken. We are actually higher than Bama.

Come on man. That obviously is not first hand market price from LSU.
Even after TAF donations, that is not the average price of a ticket per game in Tiger Stadium

Obviously. It is why I'm asking you if you have a link and said you may be mistaken.
As of 2010, based on this survey, without our TAF fee which hadn't been determined we were 17.

Here are FACE VALUE of UT tickets:
MOST of those face values are higher than the $40 for non-conference and $70 for conference.
A&M:
More than LSU.
Note - I am not doing enough research to know what tradition or foundation fees are required to purchase (If any), these are simply face values of tickets.
quote:
Aug. 31: vs. New Mexico State (Austin): $60, $55, $45
Sept. 14: vs. Ole Miss (Austin): $85, $80, $65
Sept. 21: vs. Kansas State (Austin): $85, $80, $65
Oct. 12: vs. Oklahoma (Dallas): $110
Nov. 2: vs. Kansas (Austin): $65, $60,$55
Nov. 16: vs. Oklahoma State (Austin): $85, $80, $65
Nov. 28: vs. Texas Tech (Austin): $75, $70, $60
MOST of those face values are higher than the $40 for non-conference and $70 for conference.
A&M:

Season ticket pricing for the 2012 season will be $225 for TAMU student seating, $450 for bench seating, $485 for armchair seating and $520 for club and suite level seating.
More than LSU.

One other thing that I feel is a legit gripe is the shitty schedule and LSU's insistance to play these neutral site games.
This is a delicate matter, because it is nice to be invited to play in these prestigious venues and play a game against a big time opponent, but don't leave us with a bunch of crap games like next year. We're opening a new addition to our stadium, but won't do it on opening weekend, nor will we do it against a decent opponent.
The shitty opponent problem is also a by-product of college football. If we schedule 2-3 BCS conference opponents we risk getting beat up, and taking a loss into our conference schedule which leaves us little room for error. If the SEC goes to a 9 game schedule, it may make things a tiny bit better.
In the end the solution is probably to kick out the smaller schools and create a super league made up of all the BCS conference schools, and only allow 1 game outside of the per year. With that also bring in a 16 team playoff.
Again not LSU's problem or anything they can do.....but may be the only way to fix the attendance issues.

Of course not. It isn't really necessary that you do any research. I was just wondering where you were pulling your number from. I know LSU isn't at the top, but I would be surprised to find out if we were much further than 15th. That's all I was saying. It seemed to me that you thought LSU was in the mid 20s. I don't think that will prove to be correct.

I agree next year's schedule is embarrassingly bad as far as home games go. However, look at the schedules all around the country. I would rather watch a big time school come in than New Mexico State, but I just don't complain about it. This decision isn't made to impact the fans in the seats. They are looking out for the program and realize that playing in the SEC West is tough enough, especially having to play UF every year. Why risk getting a loss and getting a blemish playing an good opponent when it isn't necessary?
Believe me, I wish the whole land scape would change and teams would be play games that are challenging instead of A&M playing Sam Houston State.
I see both sides of this argument, I just don't care because I like going to the games. I would rather watch them play Oregon, but in reality I just enjoy the season while it is here, so if we are playing New Mexico State, so be it.
The neutral games don't bother me as bad as it bothers some because it puts us in the national spotlight. It's usually a game against a decent team and gets played on national TV in primetime.

Complaining about hot dogs and bottled water? Going to a football game is supposed to be expensive. It's a luxury, not a normal routine. Don't blame LSU, blame the system. They're just trying to keep up.

If Hootie goes to Bama you better be ready. The northern part of Louisiana will no longer be considered Louisiana. We will push you to Ar-kansas. You can go cheer for the cowboys and bama there. You yankees.
