I agree . The home crowd was a lift for them . We didn't play our best . We outgained them 2 to 1 yardage wise but made too many mistakes at critical times . Lets hope we learned from our mistakes.
At the end of the day it is a sec win....

That is what happened. Sure, we should have won by more. The turnover did us in. Then, we got conservative and made mistakes. But, this game should not be an indicator of how good this LSU team is. They have work to do, but this is the SEC.
I get it, I understand it, and I think you're mostly right, but I also believe that people outside the SEC are going to be a lot more critical of "grind it out" wins like this in the conference, because of a few glaring weaknesses some other SEC teams have shown in losses to OOC teams. Look for FSU to take the 1 or 2 spot soon. If not this week, then in the coming weeks. If Florida continues to win and FSU knocks them off, it's on for Jimbo's boys.

no joke. you wanna compete for the ship, you better ENJOY the frenzied opposing crowd...at Florida and A&M among others.

Bennie Logan got out in front of the team and started pacing back and forth at almost midfield while Auburn was running around.

I am not worried about the polls or national media. We control our own destiny. I am talking about what actually happened.

We should have won by 3 TDs even with the crowd. We have work to do. But, one thing led to another and we are in a slugfest.

Since 2002 the average score @ Jordan Hare for an SEC opener against LSU is roughly 13 to 12 in AU's favor. We are 2-4 there.

The ONLY thing historically inaccurate about last night was that we WON!

Totally agree. We dominated until the Mett fumble. This was the first real test for a young team that made a bunch of rookie mistakes yet still won. Should be a learning experience.

Even if FSU jumps us, with games still remaining with USCe, FLA, Bama we would jump them again, no biggie, it's simple win out and we are in..

I was there and totally agree with original post. I've ridden home from here with more L s than W s. There are no lay-ups on the road in the SEC. Pocket the win, learn from it and move on.

Awesome post. Even on television you could tell that stadium was bringing it. I'm sure it was insane to be there.
I freaking loved it. Games like that are what I love about college football, and that is exactly what LSU Auburn is supposed to be.

This is also the reason I have been saying that our odds of beating Bama in Tiger Stadium on prime time are better than our odds of coming out unscathed in the 3 prior game. That road game to Florida will be ridiculous and our QB better learn how to handle the heat. USCe is becoming the team that they were supposed to be and a trip to college station will be no walk in the park.
We ain't rolling through the season w a string of blowouts this year.
At the end of the day last night was a gritty arse win and I enjoyed every second of it.

Cmon man Louisiana fricking Monroe hung 34 on this team. We barely got 12. No way we go into Florida and get a win. Lsu has lousy pass blockers especially the tackles. No way they can improve this this year. I see your point but can't use that as a excuse

But, I thought I'd tell the story for anyone who actually wanted to know what it was like in the stadium and how the crowd affected the game.

Great post thanks for the insight

Great read. Thanks for the insight. I'm not a gloom and doomer. I saw a dominant defense for lsu and tentative offense. Not a coach but still trying to figure out some play calls. Maybe it was a conscious decision to play it safe because the d was playing so well. Obviously if we don't turn the ball over that score is much more lopsided

Great post. It is easy to sit back in our easy chairs and watch at home and have absolutely no idea what it is like at the game. As you mentioned, Auburn's backs were against the wall and their team and fans gave all that they had. Still we come out with a victory. Its SEC football and for anyone to have thought that we were going to go there and blow them out, then hey, they really havent followed SEC football enough. I will take the victory on the road any day of the week. Thanks for describing the feel at the game. Believe me I know it is different than watching on TV.
