"SEC football" isn't just wearing a sticker on the jersey, it's the teams you play. Alabama, Fla and Auburn are at the heart of that.
BINGO! Who doesn't look at the schedule to see when these games are played and who we play the week before and after! The early test with Auburn, mid-sched vs Florida, then late season festa with Gumpland... Sick to death these will be not be regular occurrences anymore. Sheesh. Feels like I've had to put down a longtime best friend pet. I will absolutely cherish the last 2 years of the traditional SEC Schedule.

So you want to play Tulane every year too?

Games I look forward to the most each year: Florida and Alabama

Games I take for granted but would probably miss not having: Ole Miss, Miss St, and Auburn

Games that don’t matter to me at all: Arkansas and A&M

LSU is going to play Alabama every year, but on a neutral field for the SEC title.

I'm all for it. "Traditional Rivalries" exist because the Alabama schools threw a hissy fit during the last realignment and just had to play Tennessee and Georgia. Playing Florida every year is a big game, but it puts us at a competitive disadvantage. And there is that manufactured "battle for the boot" to make the Arkansas game seem more like a rivalry.

I'll be perfectly happy with a 4 team division with the Mississippi teams and Arkansas or A&M. We can't play everyone every year and having these "traditional rivals" is what fricked up the current schedule where you may take a decade to complete a home and home with some other schools in the conference.

I don’t have a problem playing a a or Auburn. But playing Florida every year sucks. I we could play 2 different SEC East teams every year.

This is true and apt.

60 years ago, Ole Miss was by far the biggest rival of LSU.

LSU v. Tulane was one of the longest rivalries in college football until it ended. (Side note, my first LSU game was v. Tulane.)

Before Florida became a rival, LSU v. Texas A&M was a tense rivalry.

When people say that Arkansas is an LSU rival now, it makes me cringe. Arkansas is only a rival of LSU in the minds of people from Arkansas.

Personally, I'm against inviting UT and OU, but it's not about resistance to change. I think mega-conferences are a bad idea in general.

Not me. I grew up with A&M, Rice, Kentucky, Ole Miss and Tulane as rivals. I was already 16 years old when we played Auburn for the first time in my lifetime. And Bama wasn't a regular opponent before 1964.

I could go without Florida & Auburn every other year if it meant getting Tx and Oklahoma every other year, ticket worth would not be hurt if they are replaced by Ok & Tx.

It's kind of ironic that you use that word because "pusses" are also scared to death of change instead of tackling what new challenges lie ahead.

Add Oklahoma and Texas to that list and see if you still want to play the same schedule.

That’s why I don’t want these pods. These matches against auburn Florida and bama have been around for generations. So many memorable moments. I look forward to those games every year. I know we don’t always win, but the hype/intensity of those games just can’t be matched. I don’t want an “easier path”. That’s a loser mentality. In order to be the best you have to beat the best. I wish the sec told OU and Texas to frick off. Our conference is perfect the way it is. If it’s not broken don’t fix it. Sucks seeing CFB turn into the nfl.

I love those rivalries too, my problem has been the fairness of the schedule compared to Bama and the other teams. Obviously teams have good and bad years, but we have one of the toughest SEC schedule every year.

florida and auburn are not traditional rivalries. you may be excused for not knowing this as you must be young.

these are great games, and they won't be moved totally off the schedule. i like the thought of the new schedule where we play everyone in the league at least twice every 4 years.
