re: I want Napier, he deserves the opportunity

My only hang up with Napier is his team don’t throw the ball.
He’s 5th in the Sun belt in Passing Yards per game. 7th in TDs.
So the biggest question mark besides “ can he do this at a P5 level” is “does he have a passing game?”
He may just be working with what he’s got. I get That, but can he pass the ball?

WTF is this 1970 and 1980?

This hire is huge for the next decade of LSU football. He could be awesome at LSU, he could also not be ready for a job like LSU. I really have no idea. But I know the last thing I want is a Scott Frost/Nebraska situation at LSU. And I'm not saying LSU is the best job in all of college football, but we aren't a school that needs to take a risk on an in-state coach.

LSU Isn’t an opportunity. It’s an honor.
So no

I would rather he stay in Lafayette and build that program into something. First of all, he is a good coach and by most measures, appears to be a great leader for that program.
BUT
He hasn't even won the conference outright. People need to pump the breaks on this guy. Let him establish himself at UL.

He deserves the right to an interview. He's earned that. But nobody "deserves" the LSU head coaching position.

Skip Holtz has accomplished more at La Tech than Napier has at ULL. Fact.

Hope you paying him then. Most don’t want him

This was the main problem I had with LSU hiring Orgeron. Everyone felt like he deserved it. I have to believe the AD at the time felt the same way. That's why they settled for O and the binder. Everyone with a say so felt like he deserved it. And that is how the hire was publicized.
So they were fricked from the beginning.... My hope is that Woodward knows better than to follow that line of thinking.

He's a realistic candidate.
Lincoln Riley, James Franklin, Dave Aranda...
Aranda would take the job in less than a second.
He's at fricking Baylor not Ohio State

I support both schools. And I think most ULL fans would be happy for him. He has done everything right and has deserved that chance

How many 11 win seasons does Holtz have at La Tech?
This is like you’re dumb thread where you claimed he had a better postseason record when they have the exact same win% in bowls and Holtz is 1-1 jn FCS playoffs

Well I want you to shut the frick up.

He has never won a conference title in THE SUNBELT. The SUNBELT. With all the "positives" being thrown around about him, why is there no explanation for this fact? Ask a 4-5 star recruit from California what the Sunbelt Conference is & not one will even know 2 teams in it. And LSU is successfully recruiting out there.

They pass the ball plenty. look at Levi Lewis career stats.
And you can't fault Napier for having two NFL running backs the last two years, and Chris Smith who will likely play in the NFL in the future

That being said, I do not think most LSU fans that don't want Napier care what non P5 school he coaches at, just that he has no HC experience at a P5 program.
Neither does Fickell, but he seems to be the consensus top choice.
I'd be happy with either because they are good coaches. Fickell obviously has taken Cincy farther than Napier has ULL, but Cincy has also had success with their last 3 coaches: Tuberville (least successful), Butch Jones and Brian Kelly.

I've watched ULL a couple of times this season and this year's team doesn't look quite as good. Maybe they'll get better and start clicking but I have a feeling they are going to lose a few games down the stretch. That's going to take some luster off of his name.

Napier is my choice as well but majority of LSU fans can’t put it past their pride to hire a ULL coach.

I think Napier is a fine coach I just want someone with power 5 head coaching experience, also, if you want to go the up and comer route Jamey Chadwell at coastal Carolina has a better program and beat Napier head to head. Really like Napier he’d probably be 6th on my list though
