How many games have we lost handily this year?
The teams not as bad as people say. The pitching rotation needs to be figured out and I think we will be ok once that happens. We just found a way to lose games where we were up in the 8th or 9th, it happens sometimes.
I’m ready to see who we start this weekend and what it does for us overall to throw whoever it is we decided to throw.
I want to see at least two more sec series before I say we’re a really bad team

Hate to tell you chief, but outside of Money we really don't have any of those.
Yeah, but some might be better than Floyd. We wouldn't know though because they haven't tried and we're 6 weeks into the season.

Let's not kid ourselves, pitching blew that game for us.
We had a runner on 3rd with less than 2 outs in both of the last innings. And instead of Dugas and Berry batting, we had Merrifield and Stevenson.

He provides a long ball threat at the very least. Like I said, he needs to be in the lineup over both Merrifield and Bianco, who are both struggling as well.
Is he though? He hasn't hit a HR since Feb 27th against Towson.

For that Merrifield at bat, we had two capable 2nd basemen on the bench that could have taken over for any number of pinch hitting options that were available.

Yep. But we never would even be in that situation if if he would put Berry as DH.

Through 21 games we've used 7 different starters, calm down

When you have a lead in the 9th you sub to play defense. Any good manager would. In that case you need to give up a bat for a glove. If Berry or Dugas would've made an error (which is totally in the realm of possibility) you would have been at their throats. Players need to step up with runners on 3rd and find a way to get them across idgaf if it's Berry or freaking Milazzo. That falls on their shoulders. Weren't you just on the "start Merrifield" train? You do realize RBI opportunities come in the first 8 innings as well? Games aren't always won and lost in extras.

When's the last time Bianco or Merrifield hit a HR. At least his was this season. Average is better than both of theirs as well.

How many have gotten the chance to go deep into a weekend game?

No shite. My point is if Berry was at DH he would have never been pulled. Dugas was replaced as a base runner. He isn’t a liability as a base runner or a fielder.

Merrifield has a better OB%

Because you are an impatient
I get impatient too, it's frustrating to see this time grinding it's gears right now.
I think he has a plan. All these pitchers that are pissing us off right now, he's trying to get them ready for the end of the season. If half the shaky ones can settle in and become reliable (even if not great), this staff becomes deep and solid. The design of the team is better for a regional, instead of a series. We don't have the current pitching to challenge a good team's 1 and 2, but we have the bats to feast on second line pitching (if they ever get cranked up). I think the goal will be to limp into a regional and then light it up, and if we can ever beat a top-line starter we should be very dangerous.

I'm only hanging on because he has a history of success and will have good players to try continuing that with. I still think we're going to have a good season.
I will admit that everything I say after this should also be put on the players for not executing whatever it is that he's doing.
I hate his hitting approach so far. You can work the pitcher without taking balls right down the middle.
I hate that we haven't hardly run. 13 stolen base attempts is horrible.
I hate his substitutions. They're very inopportune, and generally put the player in a tough spot.
I hate his pitching changes. They don't make sense. Hanging guys out to dry at times, pulling guys out too quick at other times. Overthrowing guys. (That is partially on Meatball, and I hate Meatball's pitch calling, too).
I hate his tempo. Hitters take forever to get in the box, catchers take forever to get and give signals, pitchers take forever to deliver. We call multiple offensive timeouts per game.
I hate that he really doesn't have any good justification for Berry playing defense. If he just wants to give Berry a chance, fine, say it. If he doesn't think anybody is better, fine, say it.
I hate that he hates Dugas. It's like he has only an eye test. Dugas may not pass the eye test, but the dude gets on anyway anyhow.
Everything is just wrong.

We were 1-8 in the SEC if I remember correctly last year before we decided we could win some games.People act like Johnson took over a sure fire Omaha bound juggernaut that somehow we would score 10 runs a game an pitching wouldn’t matter all of a sudden

Holy shite. I really appreciate the candor.

Typically when you get into trouble you don't get the opportunity to "go deep" into a game. That would be considered bad situational coaching.

Baserunner, no. Fielder, ehhhhh kinda. Definitely not the outfielder Stevenson is.

Like I said, Jobert has more pop and a better avg.

What the actual frick does this come from? He had a bad A&M series but made good contact 3 times and got a hit last night

Against bad teams. He can only throw fastballs, and can't even throw them for strikes. He can be a reliever but he is not an SEC starter.
Well regardless of if Floyd’s numbers are inflated or not, we will almost certainly get a different rotation this weekend based on how Floyd was used last night and comments.
We’ll see who can step up. Lansville showed some really good stuff last night IMO

He took AZ to the college world series. multiple times. find it hilarious that people would be ready to give up on something before it even has gotten started. Culture change takes a while and is not always pretty.

Based on some of the (very reasonable) criticism laid out in this thread, it's not a stretch to wonder whose culture needs to change.

He is 10-48 (.208) dating back to February 27th. Is that good or bad?

And that's good. We'll see what happens. I just wish he would have realized this before the second weekend of SEC play.

I would like to see your response to DRock88's post above and see if you agree or disagree with any of it. I agree with basically everything he said.
