I think you're missing the point. No one is ridiculing him (you) for going to the game. People are saying that he(you) should no longer be in the student section and should drop the "im a special, look at me" white board shite.

Please, go to every game and cheer your arse off. Just grow up and do it amongst the adults.

I was never a fan of the "superfans" or super-hero fans that sat in the front row of the student section for every football game back in the day. I knew some of them, and they were not huge football fans. They liked to play dress-up and get attention by being on TV. Seemed lame and desperate, but whatever. You can't even see what's going on in the first row, unless you are watching the jumbo-tron the whole game.

As far as the SS giving more effort during games, we can agree.

I will never agree, however, that it is the job of a 30 year old that has no affiliation with school other than he graduated from the institution to insert himself into the SS to "lead" them. What this guy (you) are doing isn't inspiring others to cheer, it's just a look at me act of self gratification.

If he (you) were really trying to get others engaged, he (you) would not be writing stupid jokes on a white board. You would be in the aisles or in front of the SS screaming and cheering and trying to get people to buy in. White board guy (you) does not engage with the rest of the SS except to show them whatever dumb joke he (you) wrote on his board.

I'd argue that the majority of super fans are in it for self gratification just as much as they are in it to cheer on the team.
