All that without playing one game together?

I'd like to see them play before I think anything involving the word "elite".

The transfer safeties apparently are having a good camp so far. Pickett is going against Hilton so they intend to break him in quickly.

If the DC can't scheme to stop a mobile QB, none of this matters. As of now, for whatever reason, Baker is unable to do so. Let's hope this changes.

Taylen Green and Pavia had their worst games of the season vs LSU. We shut down Dart from running. We forced two fumbles from Sellers that lead to points and then knocked him out of the game. Lagway hurt us with the pass, not the run.

We struggled to contain two very athletic QBs because our MLBs were too slow and our Safeties were terrible.

Well LSU ranked 123, 66, 41, and 108 in total defense the 4 years prior to last season for an average of 84.5 and they're returning 3 starters(4 if you count Perkins) from a team that ranked 61st last year with 6 of the replacements having never played a down together(portal+freshmen) Either take off the purple and gold glasses or stop smoking crack, nothing about is a recipe for elite defense. Cignetti was able to build a great defense out of the portal because the players all came from same team that he'd previously coached (JMU) and already had multiple years of chemistry together

Why do you post so much here?

All of your posts are eerily similar to preseason posts from your insecure gay cousins in CS.

Well, you don’t know if any of them are NOT elite, either…

The biggest difference in this defense will be leadership. We had none last year. Perkins got injured but he was not a vocal leader to begin with. Brooks was gone. Weeks was young and also had some injury problems. That was it. This year Pyburn and Weeks have embraced those roles and that will go along ways to making the players more accountable. Perkins will hopefully get into that mode also as he contributes to the defense. Combine that with the upgrade of talent across the board and I am also bullish on this defense. We are both talented and deep for the first time in 6 years.

I hope the same. It definitely is possible that the offense sucks and this defense is just above average.

I am glad you hedged this one preseason cuz I was stressed. Now we know that everything they do that is good can be attributed to Kevin Peoples and anything they do that is bad can be because they aren't good players. Glad we got that one figured out. I was wondering how we were going to balance this but now we have it set

I would take top 25 in a heart beat.

I know my OP was a bit hyperbolic and very P&G lense oriented but I honestly think this group will be a lot like the 2019 group. It'll take them a bit to settle in but they will eventually figure it out and be awesome down the stretch. I am not sure where 2019 ended up in overall rankings as a D but I'd bet they were top 10 in the country during the final 6 or so games they played.
