I think Jayden actually has a case now.

Lsu is retiring the #7 this year.
Not for Patrick Peterson
Not for Tyrann Mathieu
Not for Leonard Fournette
But for Bert Jones also a Qb who didn’t win anything. That is a slap in the face to 4 players not just 1.
All #7’s should be at this ceremony had he said that was his reason and not Burrow I’d be 100% on board with him.

Have a downvote! It’s free on me!

Unless he has a legal document stating #5 will never again be worn by a LSU player, he does not have a case.

I hope you don't operate heavy machinery.

They are retiring Bert's jersey #7. Not the #7.
Why is this clear distinction so fricking hard for some of you?

They’re retiring Bert Jones’ jersey. Not the #7. LSU doesn’t retire numbers anymore.

#7 jersey is being retired. Not the number.

Seems like a euphemism for just putting him in the ring of honor. This is why players who don’t grasp nuance feel disrespected.

25 years of dumbassery courtesy of people like you.

He has no legal case. LSU can do whatever they want with “his” number and any IP they own. He can piss and moan all he wants; LSU isn’t legally obligated to do anything.

Not a Snowball’s Chance in Hell
According to LSU policy, “Under a provision of the LSU jersey retirement bylaws established Jan. 1, 2007, the retirement of an athlete’s jersey in a particular sport does not preclude a current student-athlete in that sport from wearing the jersey number in that or any other sport, subject to the discretion of the head coach.”

How does this work? how do you retire a jersey? No one named Jones can wear 7? I'd love a link to explain the mechanics.
