Just saying how great it is to be a lifelong fan of a team that is now 10-0 and on the cusp of its third national title in less than a decade.

LSU owns Saban!

LSU is 4-2 against Saban.

ETA: If we beat Bama in 2012 and 2013, which appears more likely than not, this far out, LSU will be as good against Saban coached teams as we were with Saban as our coach, which wasn't bad.

That was the third year I remember being a Tiger fan. The Poulan Weedeater Bowl was the bigtime then.

Nothing worse than leaving the stadium after a tie. What kind of smack can you talk?

I don't remember every going, "Yes! A tie!!!!"

... although 7-1-1 definitely felt better than 7-2. It was like you could ignore that 3rd number.

Somebody was like 6-0-3 at some point in one season - early 90's maybe?

I remember Curley.

No kidding. I remember sitting in Veterans Memorial Stadium in Jackson, MS in '91 or '92 and watching Ole Miss curb stomp LSU 32-0. I remember telling a co-worker the next Monday the only thing I wanted was a team that can compete for an SEC championship, and then maybe once in a blue moon be talked about for a national title. Boy, how things have changed.

I remember him...remember thinking, "damn, he's gotta be freezing." But he was from Michigan, so he was probably used to it.

Back then, I thought the Poulan Weedeater Indy Bowl was a gift, presumably to hardly ever be topped. We camped out in front of the ticket office to get tickets to that thing, and people were going crazy with all the happy feelings of just going to a bowl game that night.

I spent the night in the parking lot in line to get tickets to that Indy Bowl. Definitely gives you some perspective and appreciation for seasons like this.

I remember being a young man and Cholly Mac would lose to Bama every damn year. Lost to Ole Miss a bunch also. Never could beat Tennessee.

We kicked the XP to tie. Didn't go for the win. DiNardo explained that he wanted to, "Make sure we stayed in the SEC Western Division race."

My first taste of LSU Football was the news-conference where Gerry DiNardo was announced as the head coach. I remember listening to it on my Dad's AM Radio in his still like new '94 Toyota Extended Cab going down I-12.

We were passing over Airline Highway & Sherwood Forest Boulevard as he talked about bringing the magic back and leaving the PC to head down to Carencro to recruit without saying Kevin Faulk's name.

That winter I seem to remember my Dad showing me the Dandy Don website for the first time.

Great memories...

I was dancing with joy when we made that Independence Bowl. God the Curley years were just awful. To make matters worse, I was living with relatives, one of which from north Florida, so they were FSU fans. While LSU was in the doldrums, FSU was running roughshod over CFB.

The only way LSU could win shite during the Curley years was on my Sega.

Anyone else have an Archer's Army LSU T-shirt when they were a kid? Ah, the good ole days.

I can remember the Arnsparger years. I remember sugar cubes, then oranges then sugar cubes again, all flying into the north end zone from the student section (which was closer to the side line).

Those times do not compare to these. This has been unprecedented success. Few programs can claim to match the results of the Fighting Tigers of the past decade.

Here is to keeping it rolling along for ever!!!

agreed. I watched lsu as a kid, but really got interested in my high school years. Earthquake game I listened with my dad in the car after a dance at Mount Carmel. I was a crusader in 9th grade.

Good times.

then oranges

That Fla State game was cool! The LSU cheerleader dressed up as the seminole mascot and when he shook his spear at the student section, he got pelted with oranges! Then he ran over to us in the south end zone to get away from the students, and he got pelted by the south end zone!

Fun stuff - we've come a long way in the expectation department.

awesome

Things used to be a lot different. When I was in school, you could enter TS by just showing your student ID, then you had to go pick-up your student tickets at the athletic department window, then they started charging ($2 IIRC). We were OUTRAGED.

I remember when $20 in a birthday card was like winning the lottery, feeling a girl's breast though her sweater was the coolest feeling in the world and a hand me down El Camino was my ticket to independence. Life was more fun when the simple things in life could bring you so much happiness.

I was nailing people with oranges who were climbing the North end zone goal posts after the game was over. Got one dude right in the ear. Total bedlam.
