Although it did not work I really like the call and the design. If that ball was put on the money it would have been a huge momentum swing. I like how we are not afraid to call it

I liked the call. I didn't like that the coaches failed to recognize that Auburn lined up in a punt safe alignment. The coaches should have waived it off immediately when they saw the defense.

The defense didn’t stop it. The throw did.

Obviously, if it works, it looks great. Seems like a difficult play for a punter to make in that situation. Running forward, jump pass to a tight end moving away from him. I could have done without that one.

Von Rosenberg would likely have made it if he had just run it. He's a really big guy and is going to fall forward. But, yeah, he was also a HS QB.

I predict that this won't be the only fake punt we call this year, but I wonder if we won't have him just run it next time.

I liked the call, but something seemed off from the get go.

But I hope we get back to doing stuff like that more. This game was proof positive that even if it fails it’s not the worst thing in the world. Coaches in general are much too conservative on 4th down IMO

That’s a hard throw to make though. I like the idea, I would prefer a different route or something much easier to throw and catch.

Agreed. Even if they were in a "safe" formation, you have to go balls to the wall. Great idea, poor execution

Nope. The play was there.

It was given away when Von Rosenberg was in instead of Growden in a pooch punt situation.

I thought he is a lefty, but he threw the jump pass right handed. Would he have thrown a better pass left handed?

Even if it fails, as long as it doesn’t put you in too bad of a position, it’s still a net positive because opposing coaches really have to take note of a team’s propensity to take risks like that in their game planning.

yep. just take a few steps and throw. no need to run and jump and throw at the same time.

also, rosenberg missed a chance to run for another one. auburn didn't send anyone. gotta keep an eye out for that. i think it was chris jackson who burned somebody on that. maybe la tech?

You don't think the alignment affected the throw?

No.

It was a great call at the perfect time. if only Moureau would of made cut to the right instead of going straight up the field

That play design was total shite

Expecting a punter to drop a pass in the bucket on a jump like that is ridiculous

Everyone knew it was coming because you put in your long punter in a pooch punt situation.
