I remember the 90s 80s 70s and some of 60s. I actually suited up for an SEC rival but my brother, brother n law, and countless cousins played for LSU. (If I would have been good enough to play for LSU I would have been there in a New York minute but had academic scholarship not athletic.)

What many are terrified of here is really not the 90s but the good ole boy system of the 70s and Charlie Mac days. Typical 7-9 wins and trip to Liberty Bowl finish in top 25 but rarely Top 10 and rarely a threat to Bama. (Hell, the bear and charley Mac got falling down drunk playing cards all night the Friday’s before the games.) That’s how worried they were about us. Still never treated us the way were are treated now. Coaches were all buddies etc. We were Bama’s wing man or yes man not rival, and that was good enough for the tiger good ole boys system. We were satisfied with being second fiddle. It was good enough.

It was god damn “mediocrity” and I am tired of mother frickers saying 9 to 10 wins a year is that. All but a hand full of schools would take that in a second. It is satisfied with being second fiddle, and we have in fact become no competitive with Bama as far as wins are concerned. They need us as a quality win for their resume but they have become a permanent roadblock for us. Miles was not the answer as he lost what his last 5 against them.

Bebe is now 0-2. It has come to the point that we might as well have a base salary with a 5 million bonus for beating them.

The simple truth is they will lie cheat steal murder do whatever it takes to secure players and wins and With Emmett running the NCAA they can do whatever the hell they want anyway. They are the NAZIS SS of football, they will do what it takes to reach their objectives, and the ends justify the means. And they are of one mind in this.

LSU is constantly at war with itself and is not willing to commit to doing what is necessary to win big. We couldn’t if we really wanted to. Saban changed the culture for a while and Miles was a great recruiter and good coach for a few years....

But many fear the good ole boys are back at the wheel and their sole agenda is taking care of themselves. (A Louisiana tradition.)

I think every real tiger fan wants this to work, but if not that it not drag out over many years giving us another Charley Mac era. ( charley Mac was a good guy and a good coach but he was no where in Bears league )

Might be the most intelligent post I've ever seen on Rant...a lot of the posters should be living in the institution very near your city...they are spoiled and unable to deal with reality...I've lived in Tennessee for over 30 years now and some of the fans here are close kin with some of our's...after UT won a Nat'l Championship in '98, they thought it was gonna happen every year and hopefully, this past season has finally brought them back down to earth...LSU won two in a short span and our guys can't understand why the Tigers don't do it every year and if they don't, FIRE THE COACH !!! If you pull for any certain team, then pull for them no matter what and be able to accept letdowns once in awhile because they happen to everybody (even Bama, eventually, when Nicky Satan moves on)

Here's where you couldn't be more wrong. Apparently nothing we do as fans is going to set in motion the desired changes.

...which was leading to losses and a record no ne was happy with.

In the end, he was fired because of results...period. Had he won multiple titles, he could have been as arrogant as Saban and no one would have given one single frick.

And since he was fired for results, any result equal to or worse than his is a step backward...regardless of whatever style his replacement may be utilizing.

Unless, of course, LSU fans now care more about style than results. I don't...your mileage may vary.

O had a hell of a comeback last year after a loss that would have thrown any other team into an absolute spiral. He shouldn't have lost in the first place, but the fact is he did lose, and instead of throwing in the towel he got this team up and ready to play

Yeah, man! fricking hooray for doing his job he gets paid millions to do instead of tanking the season!

I actually agree with most of your post, but frick this right here:

quote:

1st off let's get this notion that we are supposed to be a perennial power out of our head. Those that truly believe this are deluded. NOBODY is always good. Not Bama, not Michigan, Not Ohio State, or any other blue blood program, and newsflash; LSU isn't a blue blood. It's on the fringe, sure, but no more of a blue blood than Penn State or Clemson. We have in state talent, and a whole lot of it. But we can't get every guy, and bashing recruiting classes that are top 15 does no good for anybody. The players ABSOLUTELY DO read this site. I'm not saying they take everything here seriously, but they sure as hell read it.. Be glad about the incoming talent, and know that a top 15 class isn't a swing and a miss. It's very good.

LSU should never settle for not being elite. You say they’re not a blue blood, but they have been in the recent past—they won 2 national championships in 4 years and played in a 3rd in 8–and there’s no reason LSU shouldn’t be able to at least compete for blue blood status. I get sick of the “settling for mediocrity” cliche, but that really looks like what you’re doing here. It’s a shitty, negative and defeatist attitude to say your team can’t be great. We’ve seen LSU be great. And it’s troubling to know they aren’t right now.

ETA: and the whole “don’t say anything bad because the players will read it” is bullshite. Even IF some of them do it’s actually kind of insulting to them to think they’re this bothered and discouraged by it.

we are so spolied that we want to hire qualified coaches.

its fricking pathetic that we have a head coach that wouldnt make Vandy's top 10 candidates for defensive coordinator.

Hey man...it's been a while. Has coach Miles found a new head coaching job again? Just kind of curious you know.

So will O win more than just four games this year?

He will probably win 7 maybe 8 this year and that's a big maybe. The schedule and still no identity on offense doesn't look good for this year.

Sadly, most LSU fans are perfectly fine with a 7-5 season as long as the coach has a Cajun accent. Other fan bases demand excellence.

The defense should be significantly better, and Ensminger's new RPO/tempo spread offense overall should be better than last year's offense, with an opportunity to be far better depending on the QB production.

Don't know what the record will end up being because of the extremely difficult schedule we play, but nonetheless, O has this program heading in the right direction, and we will be significantly better this season and the next season simply due to all the depth coach O is adding to the team in all the right places that was very lacking when he took over.

Won't be long, we'll be competing for championships again and you will be very miserable and I will be very joyful and happy. Todaloo.

You don't know what the hell Ensminger's going to run as his offense. No one does, probably not even Ensminger.

Ensminger said in his press conference it will be an RPO/tempo offense with 3 to 4 wideouts. He also said it would be easier to install and easier for the players to learn. That's a spread.

As a pro-style offense is harder to install and far more complicated to teach and learn.
