I said this summer he would likely go 8-4/9-3 but of course with different losses. I'm willing to give the man his due respect if he matches 9-3 or does better next season. Now wonder if the same people screaming and pitching tantrums for him to get respect will be man enough to criticize him if he falls flat and has a 8-4 season or worse? Somehow doubt it, theme would be just wait til next year.

This is a simple issue. You have the people that support him for being one of them versus the others who are skeptical of his coaching abilities.

Each side betting on the prospects of his long term success or failure. Appeals such as the one contained in this thread have no sway.

If he proves to be CONSISTENTLY bad, then I’ll admit it and agree with the negas. My point is, a lot of people had their minds made up about him when he was hired and are not giving him a fair shake to prove otherwise. Heck, he has proven (at this point) to be better than anyone would’ve thought going into this season. We beat both UF and AU, Ole Miss and AnM and pushed bama around in Tuscaloosa. And we have an overall very young team. If he can coach them up, we will be top dog in SEC again I believe.

30 point prison rape from State.
HOMECOMING loss to Troy.
Double digit loss to Alabama.
2 wins against winning records.
Another 3 loss year when LSU was favored in every game but 1 vs a historically bad schedule.
19 starters with 3 or more years in the program.
Edward Orgeron has been in the program how long now?
Conflict with OC that required a reminder of his limitations from the AD.
His own players said ( Inside LSU football the week before A&M) that he wasn’t holding players accountable and they had to take it upon themselves.
Current recruiting class below usual LSU standards.

Glad you’re excited about such a great year.

20 point rally against AU to win.
3- loss season with brand new offense.
More starting freshmen than any team in the P5.
Met or exceeded projected wins total from anyone with half a brain .
NY bowl against top opponent.
Vastly improved clock management in-game.
Players enjoy playing for him and better QB play than we’ve seen since Mett.
Much more dynamic and less vanilla offense.
Obvious growth pattern of players and coaching as year progressed.
Overcame some early-season adversity with mettle and grit.
Most people knew MSU was gonna be a dang good team before the season started.

90% of people knew it was gonna be a challenging year and projected us to lose 3 or 4. Now, those same people wanna get mad bc we lost 3. Don’t make sense.

Miles was fired because the program had seemingly plateaued and LSU wanted to take the next step forward and get back to being a championship caliber program again. Fair or not, O was tasked with moving the program forward, not keeping it status quo. 9-3 (6-2) in a weak SEC and a loss to Troy is not moving the program forward. Though, to be fair, it certainly isn't moving the program backwards either, which is what many were afraid of when O was named the permanent HC.

Whether this season was "successful" or not is relative. From most objective measures it is a "successful" season. However, can you say it is a success relative to the reason why you made a coaching change? LSU still finished 3rd in the SEC West. They lost to Alabama for the 7th straight time. And they aren't going to the playoffs or even a NY6 bowl. So did they really "move forward" from the Miles era?

No one is calling for Ogeron to be fired and everyone is hopeful that he can take the next step. But IMO, what he did this season was maintain the baseline. Certainly not "bad" by any means. But not absolute evidence that he was the right choice to replace Miles. He'll get to show everyone next season if the program is moving forward, staying the same, or falling behind.

Granted. Still a top team, though.

I think that no matter what he did short of an NC, a lot of people had their mind made up about him when he was hired and won’t see the forest for the trees. I didn’t think it was the best hire either, but I’m at least willing to admit he’s done overall an admirable job considering everything.

Sometimes it seems like most of the “LSU fans” on this board are just a bunch of trolls or plants from bama or something. Y’all need to go back to your own team board or find something better to do than troll real LSU fans who actually support the program instead of take shots at it every chance you get.

How do we know you're not the real plant?

I wouldn't say I like coach O. I'm pleased the way they finished. He was woefully unprepared to start the season. But I'll admit I've been pleasantly surprised to see the way he turned it around. Easy schedule or not, after Troy I didn't think we would even win a SEC game again. If we had been ready to play from day 1, then this year would have been pretty great.

Will he learn his lesson next year? Not really sure. Will he recruit decently? Not sure either (not looking good). Still his results this year have been pretty decent. We played about the same schedule as Bama and everyone is saying how hard their schedule was and how deserving they are. We beat Auburn AND Syracuse something Bama and Clemson can't say.

Why did it take him so long to coach here, then?

People act like he played 4 years here, or jumped on the first opportunity to coach here, or repped LsU in some way before he was on the payroll. He's never done anything to suggest he "bleeds P&G" before he was was hired out of unemployment a couple years ago to coach the DL. Everyone bleeds the color of the team that pays them, especially when they are trying to become the head coach.
