I know we’ve been burned on offseason hype before

But man on paper it’s hard to not be excited about this team on both sides of the ball.
WR room is deep
Run game should be better
Treydez green in Lane’s scheme should be a monster
DL room is younger but much more talented
Have two young studs at corners in Pickett and woodland
Offensive line should be much better
LB room is loaded
We’re finally gonna have some mobility again at QB
Safety play should be elite
Coaching staff on both sides of the ball is strong
In every season under BK there was massive coaching staff and position group questions on at least one side of the ball. On paper there isn’t a glaring detrimental weakness this team has. Ready for September 5th in Death Valley to get here .

Its really just going to come down to a little luck and injuries. You just never know how those two things play out.

If qb play is elite, this team can be in the playoffs. I think it can be.

There are 3 lingering questions that keep me from getting extremely hyped.
1. Can we stop a mobile QB? We've gotten gashed by running QBs the last several years have we made those adjustments?
2. Interior defensive line, still have a lot of questions there.
3. Interior offensive line, can they get a consistent push that we have not had in a few years?
Everywhere else I am very confident in the staff and the players we have. But those are the 3 biggest question marks going into the season that I don't think can be answered until the games get here.

We have a top 10 roster in the country and a top 5-6 coaching staff in the country.
The main question for this season is how quickly we can get all the newness acclimated to get through September undefeated or slip up just once because we have 3 loseable games in the first month.
If we can somehow get to November with one loss look out baws.

Well said...my thoughts exactly. Have an upvote
The only thing I'd add to that is how long is it going to take for this team/coaching staff to gel? It's hard to ask a team with this much player/coaching turnover to gel in a matter of a few months, imo obviously

One of my biggest gripes with Kelly and the offense outside of 2023 was that they could never put the small teams away. This would force our defensive starters to play so many more reps than they needed to. This is why we would see our defense start the season so strong and then begin to drop off as the season went on. I think this is why we would have so many injuries to the front 7 by November.
I’m hoping that Kiffin can establish the run game and put these smaller teams away at HT so the defense can stay fresh and the 2nd string players can get more reps. This should reduce injuries and make us more competitive in late Oct/Nov. I think the difference in Bakers defense being a top 15 defense vs a top 30 defense is the offense establishing the run and putting the lower level teams away early.
If the defense can stay fresh and Kiffin can average 30+ppg, like he is capable of doing, we should be in a great position.

Normally I would agree with you but Lane has a proven track record at getting his team to buy-in and develop chemistry pretty quickly. So I am not worried about that at all going into this season.

This is so fricking true. Too often outside of maybe the Jayden years we would let bad teams hang around for far too long instead of handling business. The LA tech game after the Clemson win was a prime example of this the offense was anemic all game to the point it forced our defense to play way longer then they should’ve due to the offense not being able to do a damn thing. The run game was awful outside of that berry run.

Fair questions that this team absolutely has to answer if we want to reach our ceiling. Hopefully a healthy weeks along with dottery helps agaisnt the running qb. Strong d line play should also make a difference. I really want to see Charles Ross more when we play the super fast qbs like Marcel Reed. That is a 10.3 speed lb he’s built to spy on running qbs

We have a great coach who, if he stays at LSU long enough, will win a national title.
It's important to remember that even Saban went 8-4 his first year at LSU. Granted, LSU today is in a far better spot than LSU was on Saban's first day, but still, I firmly believe a 9 win regular season for LSU this year should be considered the goal and a win. It might even get us into the playoffs if we're lucky.

If he can develop he could be a menace on the Football field. But from what I have seen and heard is he still has a long way to go in his development. But maybe Chris Kiffin and Blake can speed up that development so he can be a good rotational piece.

If we get past Clemson we should be in good shape if we stay healthy. There will be some growing pains with new offensive system and cast of characters the first couple of weeks.
The hope is we get past Clemson, we stay healthy, and we gel enough by week 3 before we play Ole Miss in what will be an insanely hostile atmosphere.

Bottom line is this:
Can our offensive line push their defensive line around AND can our defensive line push their offensive line around. This decides just about every game on every level. Forget what the polls and analysts say. No one knows the answer to this until the season starts.

I think our problems with Mobile QBs will start to shrink this year. Baker is actually able to coach against a competent offense in practice every day now against an elite offensive mind.
I think the speed of our offense in practice helps get them much more prepared, as well as getting them more time on the bench compared to last year. It’s hard to play elite defense all game when your offense goes 3 and out every drive.

Buying into the hype is bad for you.
New HC. New Offensive Coordinator. New O Line Coach. New TE Coach. New RB Coach. New WR Coach. New DL Coach New LB Coach. New Special Team Coach.
New QB with a major injury.
New RB.
3 New WRs Starters
3 New OL Starters
2 New DE Starters.
1 New LB Starter.
1 New DT Starter.
2 New Safeties.
Stop buying into the hype and let these guys grow and stop putting these massive expectations on a brand-new team with brand new coaches. Insane what you guys are doing to yourselves.

The offense and offensive line especially is a complete rebuild. Thats a huge question mark. We brought in a ton of talent, but how they all fit and run the offense is a guess. Offense and oline cant be worse, but we'll see how many more wins that means.
Defense is replacing 2 of the better cb, s pieces we've had, and we saw UH torch pickett and woodland all game. Whit needs to stay healthy. Will be tough for defense to be as good as last yr. Ton of GREAT talent brought in, but how they learn the defense and play together is a guess.
I think we're going to be in every game for sure.
If you go by position groups I think its positive overall.
Qb- better
Rb- better
Wr- idle
Te- better
Oline- cant be worse, better.
Dline- idle or better
Lb- idle or better
Cb- idle or worse (delane was a freak)
S- idle or worse (haulcey was a freak).

If our defense can maintain or even surpass last year's, which I am confident that it will, you will be handing the ball over to a Lane Kiffin offense that is going to get better with every possession. Just look what Kiffin did with a QB that didn't get to Ole Miss until the summer last year. Yeah, I am drinking the coolaide, but man it taste so good.

We didn’t have to defend against a mobile QB in practice. We will every day this year. But containing a running QB is always a concern.
We will run the ball because the scheme on offense is just different. We will have more than two running plays plus we have a RB coach now. That always helps believe it or not.
