maybe he needs to.
No reason he shouldn't be a 10 home run guy at least

I believe he’s working in that direction,

The injury slowed his overall progress last season, but he looks a lot stronger now and really fit.

I can see him trying to pull the ball more; yet maintain the ability to hit to all fields.

If you go up trying to hit home runs, you will
Not be a very good hitter

A lot of accomplished hitters even at the major league level admit that they don’t try to hit homers. Square it up, hit it hard, and the rest takes care of itself

Worrying too much about increasing your launch angle fricks with a lot of guys’ vision and timing. Just hit it hard and good things will happen

Eh, I think You gotta try and lift a ball.

Look at Gwynn’s numbers.

Hitting machines. Swing you could use to as a level.

20 year career. .338 career batting average. 135 hits. And that’s not because he’s weak.

He doesn’t need to with this stacked lineup. Focus on getting on base consistently and let the big boys hit him in

To my untrained eye he’s more upright and posting on his back leg in his stance — to better drive the baseball

He hit like 8 or so in the fall and spring combined, so he's definitely been working on it

You don't try to hit homeruns. That's the wrong approach. A lefty needs to focus on hitting left center to keep the barrel of the bat in the zone longer and he will accidentally hit 10 homeruns.

Because teams don’t want level plane contact hitters.

But that’s kinda what Tre Morgan is currently.

My point it it’s a great way to get on base but you can’t just say “hit the ball hard and they’ll happen.

He also played in San Diego. Not a very home run friendly park.

Tre’s swing is so sweet and efficient that he’ll hit 10-12 without really trying to swing for the fence.

He will also get a lot of opportunities because of the lineup. Teams will be more likely to pitch to him as opposed to the big guys that will be hitting around him.

You don’t touch anything that that kid is doing at the plate.

A home run is some Bob Ross shite, a happy mistake. Gear up on one here and there when the game and count allow for it. Otherwise, keep swinging the way he has.

I think you meant 135 HRs. Tony had 3141 hits in his career.

Tre has mentioned what he has been working on in the offseason to try and produce more home runs. He isn't "trying" to hit more home runs, he is just adjusting his plate approach to help it happen. He has learned what pitch and location he has the best chance of putting a good swing on and hitting it hard to get it out the yard. He is looking for that specific pitch early in counts and then if he gets behind in the count is when he will adjust his approach to look more like it has the last 2 years. He is absolutely good enough to be able to succeed at doing this and hitting for high average and 10+ homers.

There’s a time and place for it. Two outs no one on 2-0 count. You sit fastball and try to put it on the moon.

There absolutely are times where a good hitter needs to think home run.

Hell Tre himself said after the Southern game that he went to the plate his last at bat trying to hit a home run.
