If you can’t give a coach a few years after taking over a team that’s roster was decimated, you are either an idiot or a miserable person.

Or you realize that basketball is a lot easier sport in college to turn around than baseball or football...fewer players, better teams lose their players to pros at the drop of the hat, etc. Also, until the last couple of games...maybe include Florida loss a bit since they are decent...losing is one thing. When Alabama destroys you twice and Tennessee destroys you, at least be competitive. Pretend like your players have actually played the game before. I know of nobody who said LSU should win the SEC...but don't suffer humiliating loss after loss to good teams. At least pretend you have seen a basketball before.

The jury is still out on McMahon as a good coach in the SEC but the "defense" finally presented some evidence.

I agree 100%

Beating two top 20 teams in a week is a huge step forward. Having said that, I think it is becoming evident that Kentucky has been overrated

I don't know if anyone can say Kentucky has been "overrated" this season. They started the season ranked 16th...which is pretty low for their standards. No one who follows college basketball has gushed over them this season. In fact, quite the opposite, which is why Cal was grandstanding after their big win at Auburn on Saturday and trying to deflect criticism of his players.

Now, people who don't follow college basketball very much and just know the Kentucky "brand" may now be thinking they are "overrated" after last night. But I think most were pretty reasonable about them. A talented, good, but flawed team. One that hasn't played up to their historic standards and one that is probably slightly behind the first tier of SEC teams. But also one who looked like they could be playing their best basketball of the season going into last night. Arguably, LSU caught Kentucky coming off its best win of the year.

Basketball may be easier to turn around faster but it's certainly not easy to take over a roster of 2 players and turn that around quickly. That's a difficult situation to recruit good players into. College basketball is also about either having stud 1 and dones or having experience at the guard spots. Add to that you need those guards to have experience in your system. Also add that the SEC is a damn good league with great coaching and it makes it really hard to win fast. What CMM is doing this year since January is unbelievable. We are seeing improvement on weaknesses and finally seeing results on the court.

LSU basketball is not LSU football or baseball. The program doesn't recruit itself itself and we are not a national brand in the basketball world. Have realistic expectations.

I knew I wasn't crazy. We had 63 after Trae made a layup that was goaltending. Did they reverse the call or what?
