I know he's a G. But did WW ever even play HS basketball?

He's a lovable dude but really seems clueless about the game.

Playing the sports in an organized setting and knowing the sport well have zero correlation. Men coach fast pitch softball all the time. Are they clueless?

I think I misunderstood your point

But I will say it is of great benefit to have played. It isn’t required of course, but it helps for a number of reasons.

I have reservations about Wade but FWIW one of the more successful current LA HS football coaches, with a state championship under his belt, never played organized HS sports.

Wade my not be elite, but he is FAR from clueless about basketball. That’s an asinine talking point. The man is a very good basketball coach. He’s just not elite...at least not yet. Maybe he will get there, maybe he won’t. He’s young enough and still has a ton of time to grow as a coach.

He's been elitely stubborn in not hiring a Defensive Guru to come in and teach the team how to play Defense!

He was at one time my favorite LSU HC, but stubbornness is what eventually get's HC's fired. (Don't like all the myriad of shoe colors and designs either. That's tacky high school level shite)

Yes you have to have played the game ! Whether it be football, basketball, etc , In order to truly understand wants it like!! It incredible how many people make a living in their life describing faults etc. when they have never played!! Think of Fainbaum !!!

Not according to some articles I’ve read and searches. You can still be a good coach and not have played but at the same time there are minute details of the game you can’t teach if you haven’t played. Certain parts of WW’s philosophies show that he didn’t play.

No! But it helps to learn to spell before you message, but it's not mandatory.

This. I am sure Will Wade has played some organized sports, and possibly some JV hs level. Plus, basketball for the most part is a sport based on rhythm and not terribly complicated.

But there are parts of the game that you really have to have good knowledge of and dedicate time to in practice. Whichever is the issue, the team has had problems with the coach able stuff like defense and handling the press all year.

They somewhat do, not so sure being an elite athlete is a requirement see Nick Saban

It is more relating to athletes and also recruiting sure it helps

He was a manager. He has relied on strong bench coaches during his career. He ran off his strong bench coach and replaced him with a nobody. That needs to be rectified if he is to continue on his upward ascent....

The best shoe we ever had was the Converse Weapon. It's been mostly downhill since then.

Mike Leach never played and his offense set an SEC record against LSU this year.
