Exactly. Not only did LSU lose arguably the best WR in the nation, the lost the most dynamic playmaker in the nation in Daniels. How many times, even in 2022, did Daniels turn what should have been a great play for the defense into a 30, 40 yard gain? I have confidence Nussmeier can be a good QB. But you just can't replace what Daniels did last season.
Combine that with a defense that was truly awful last year and didn't really seem to add a ton of impact players on that side of the ball going into this year. Yes, I think the new DC should improve on last year's dismal performance. But with holes still remaining in terms of depth on the defense it's hard to predict a massive improvement in just one offseason.
Yet, despite all of that, this publication is projecting LSU just outside the top 10. I'd say that is a pretty strong sign of respect for a program with a lot of unknows going into the season.

I hope you’re wrong but I believe the same. 25 will be the time Bo and Blake get their recruits rolling. We wasted or CBK did his shot at Huge success early with a D that’s not even comparable to the offense LSU had last year. This year they’ll even out somewhat but 9-3 is still attainable. We’re not getting there the day after tomorrow but with this new staff and Bryce U we are set-up for foreseeable future. My biggest worry is hanging on to the Staff (Sloan and Blake) long enough to get there.

Tigers will win a lot of games this year, but prolly will end up ranked lower than 11 in the final poll....I hope I am wrong, but the defense????

I am happy with this ranking. We still have a question marks on the defensive line especially the interior.

By recruit rankings. Alabama is far and away the most talented team in the country. By portal transfer rankings, Ole Miss has a deeper and more talented defense. On the d-line alone, its not even close. I agree with you on Missouri. We beat their beat team in 20 yrs at their place, with arguably our worst defense since the early 90’s.
Obviously actual results on the field depend on issues that go a LOT deeper than that, but yeah…both Bama and Ole Miss should legit be ranked above us in the pre-season.

You're another DA that doesn't pay attention to football. LSU literally has the #1 Tackle and #3 mock draft pick of Will Campbell.
LSU also has Emery Jones who is a top 8 Tackle in the country and a 1st round mock draft pick.
Name me any other university with 2 OLmen in 1st round mock with one of them being a top 3 pick. I'll wait....
