If Nuss doesn't play this year (which I personally think he has a good shot at) I hope he doesn't transfer. He does a really good job pf getting the ball out quick, and seems like a confident QB/good teammate. He will be a great tiger. This is also coming from a previous MB fan boy FWIW.

Also, I forgot how good Will Campbell looked for basically a high school senior. That kid can play.

NB4 Nuss should have played in the Texas Bowl vs. K-State.

His passes have a lot of air under them and I’m afraid he will be prone to interceptions.

Nuss isn’t transferring if he doesn’t play this year.

He always seems engaged, very vocal, and full of energy. I hope he wins the job.

He is definitely the "gunslinger" type. He will throw a lot of picks until he learns to settle down.

This was always my biggest gripe with Max Johnson. It felt like he had the slowest release I've ever seen.

You can still be a MB fanboy and hope the best QB starts/plays.

Dont let the negas tell you different.

Max has a very Tim Tebow like throwing motion. Similar arm strength as well.

I didn't watch the spring game, so this is just me reading what's typed out.

"Passes have a lot of air under them" sounds like soft floaters. That's a big change from what I saw last year, he seemed to want to lean into the pass and rifle it to his target. Is he trying to show more touch?
BTW this doesn't sound like a gunslinger. I always think of Favre with that description, trying to throw THROUGH defenders.

Did you just mistype, or was he throwing softballs out there?

Nuss is a gunslinger. Nothing soft about that kids passes.

Spring game he looked a little better with the touch, but still threw a rocket.

So he's getting there.

If he doesn't get the starting job, he probably will. I mean, by all accounts he won all 15 spring practices, threw far less interceptions, and had by far the best spring game.

I mean, if the staff doesn't name him the starter then that means the staff is very intellectually dishonest. In that case it's time to go.

Ok, that sounds about right. I was thrown off by the "his passes have a lot of air under them" remark.

I agree. I personally think he gives us the best chance to win games. I think the "gunslinger" mistakes are a little overplayed. Yes he will make mistakes because he is a RS Freshman QB. I will live with him trying to make a play when the pocket breaks down over watching Max step into pressure in Tuscaloosa any day of the week.

Brennan was right there with him in the Spring game.

If he is the backup to start the season, you simply make this pitch for him to stay: he is the backup to the guy who has been hurt more games than healthy in his very long career, most of which he never played.

I will have to disagree. I have been a noted MB supporter since before Joe arrived. Brennan did not lead the offense with the efficiency that Nuss did IMO. Nuss also had two drops on beautifully thrown passes that would have added about 75 yards to his totals. The thing with Myles that worries me is that he takes longer to get the ball out. Myles is best when he is not rushed, and I am unsure if we have the O-line to afford him that opportunity this season.
