I don't believe for a second that it would go over well if LSU ended 6-1 and beat Bama and Bama goes to the championship game. This would not fly across the country with other fans of the sport.
No one thinks about the other side. I get it, we're LSU fans, and I'd be just as up in arms as the rest of you guys if we go 6-1 and get left out.

But that being said, Bama would have just as legit of a reason to be upset if we were chosen over them.

Joe alluded in a interview yesterday, that if the game is not played, and LSU ends up 6-1 with Bama at 7-1, that a special vote would have to be held to determine who would advance to the SEC Championship game and how the tie breaker would be determined.

this will never happen. If LSU and Florida are still in the mix, I predict Sankey will order LSU and UF to play on Nov. 19 in Gainesville, and the SEC will buyout both USA and Presbyterian.

No team will be allowed to go to Atlanta w/o playing all their conference games.

It's in the rules. So yeah, technically the SEC has said this.

It's in the rules, but the rules also state that each team shall play 8 conference games.

Meh. They would have a reason, but in the end we would have beaten them on Nov 5. Our claim would be viewed better by most people

I think the bigger problem will be winning out, between our schedule & SEC referees, I just don't see it happening...we have the talent, but all the other teams have their talent, plus the refs...

They'd have the higher win % and we would have benefitted from a possible loss to UF that will not have happened.

It can go both ways.

I can't see us winning out. We've got a brutal schedule after Southern Miss

So, the rules don't mean much in terms of this season. The SEC needs to clarify what happens if a team only plays 7 SEC games but could win the West with 1 more win.

Why not?

They could easily just stick with the current rules. There will be a ton of pressure if either lsu or Florida look like they will finish 6-1, but they can point to win% and call it a day if they want.

The point is that there is no indication of what happens in this scenario. It needs to be clarified. Simple.

Highest win % goes to the championship game. It's in the rules. Just like highest win % was used back in the day when they let teams play different amounts of SEC games.

Meh. People will say you should have beat LSU. I agree they have an argument, but I am telling you public outcry would be on our side

And the rules say that games can be cancelled

Contests should be delayed, relocated, suspended, canceled, postponed or terminated (see definitions below) when circumstances exist such that commencement or continuation of play would pose a threat to the safety of game participants.

They CAN be cancelled if the above requirements are met. They were not met.
We know that the participants wouldn't have been unsafe in BR or any neutral location. We couldn't have possibly known they would have been unsafe on Thursday when the game wasn't scheduled for another 3 days.

And besides.. It's postponed at this point, right?
They certainly can't actually cancel it now if safety is the only valid reason.
If they do, that is already a re-write of the rules.
