Florida's issue is boosters are backing out on supporting Sunbelt Billy. They're pretty divided right now after his first season. He's not getting the NIL backing that was promised so now it's going to impact recruits like Rashad.

The issue reported by the Florida 247 mods is that Rashada's handler wanted 350K and they had it in his deal. The collective didn't read the fine print and said no way. He kept the kid hid away while he was trying to negotiate his payment. Things fell apart and Florida got hung out to dry.

exactly, this kid was not getting paid $13,000,000 to sign and play at FLA. That's more than NFL HC's are paid, and Joe Burrow's average yearly salary.

EXACTLY. Even if that figure is pro-rated over 3 years, that is enough money to lure any QB in the country to Florida. Name any QB at any program who has yet to use his one-time transfer and he is jumping to Florida in a heartbeat. They aren't throwing that at an unproven 4 star QB out of high school.

That should never be restricted in a capitalist country.
It never was. That player just couldn’t compete in the NCAA as a result. You’re seeing the reasons why.

Exactly. Most people don’t like being mislead or outright lied too

The only lie is a college player that’s never played a down being offered first round NFL money from a source independent of the school.

I honestly don’t believe any of this story. The kid has changed his mind, or maybe just getting out of a semester of school.

and the NCAA and major college football essentially became a monopoly with no real alternatives.

i like it. it's fair to the kids. instances like uf and rashada, a&m and everyone transferring are called growing pains. it'll all shake out.

Becoming? It’s exactly what it’s always been. It’s just put in the open now and taxes are actually being paid on the money being handed out. It’s a good thing.

At the end of the day, you can't blame the player and you can't blame the coaches....

You can blame the NIL money game.

Free market, free enterprise, competition....whatever you wanna call it.

And? That’s capitalism. Supply and demand. Letting the market decide the price.

This is inexcusable and players have to be held accountable.

This is what you took from this story? You do understand that by all reports it’s not the player failing to live up to the agreement right?

quote:

It needs to be written into their contract especially when we are talking that much much money.

Again, not the player failing to honor the agreement here. Also, how do you get players to sign the kind of contract you are speaking of when scholarships are year to year?

So a player has to sign a multi year contract, but the school can still cut player after one year? Now you are really getting into guaranteed money and NFL type shite.

It's not. You have to be drafted relatively high in the first round in the NFL to make that kind of money. Nobody is paying an incoming freshman money that 1 round NFL QBs make.

ETA: looked it up and even the pay for draft picks wasn't nearly as high as I thought. Slot value for the Bears 1st pick this year is $7M. Now, they'll likely get more in endorsements, but compare a 1st overall NFL draft pick to a college freshman that has never played a snap of college football.
