I heard T-Bob say that Coaches E and B and Burrow might as well not look at film.

All defenses have thrown something new at Burrow especially the last half of the season. It's not like they are not looking at film they (Coaches E and B and Burrow) are just taking the approach that they will see something new from Clemson. Something that is not on film.

But what is so special about this offense are the option routes and how in sync Burrow and his WRs to recognize defenses no matter what they throw that them. The challenge for Burrow and the WRs I suspect will be to recognize Clemson's disguises.

For example I could see a Clemson safety guarding Jefferson inside which forces Jefferson on the out route instead of the slant. On the boundary you would have Chase running a clearing route but instead of the corner staying with Chase the corner for Clemson would jump Jefferson's out route and the other safety would pick up Chase on the deep route.

That is the kind of disguises I expect from Clemson's DBs.

I don't expect Burrow to fall for it. He hasn't fell for it all year. He's remained patient and used his check downs superbly all year and that includes his feet.

Burrow made the comment a couple weeks ago that he told the coaches, as a joke, that he doesn’t understand why they watch film because the defenses show something they haven’t seen on film every game.

It’s a testament to how much respect everyone has for the offense that they don’t believe their base defense will stop it.

They will show something different and when it doesn’t work they will go back to what they are comfy with.

OU is basically the only (relevant) team that ran their typical D and look what happened

Clemson will send 6 most of the night. Cush will be as important as Joe in recognizing stunts and pressure. How much time the line gives Joe will be where the game is won or lost

Our offensive staff has been throwing new wrinkles at opponents all year too, especially in the biggest games.

I'm excited to see what they come up with this week.

I'm holding out hope for a screen pass to Chase out of the backfield.

One thing that stood out to me in the Peach Bowl was our fullback used as a receiver from (iirc) a tight WR position pre-snap.
We certainly didn't need to show that wrinkle in the OU game, so maybe it was done to get Clemson used to the idea (in other words, so they don't see it in the championship and think something is up) of him in that position, and maybe he will get a chance to be a lead blocker on a screen pass this week.

We also haven't used end-arounds at all this year that I can remember. I could see it called in the red zone. Would be a nice throwback to Skyler in 2003 if we scored on something like that.

If that happens consistently, Burrow will throw for 600 yards and 8 TDs when Chase burns the safety. Maybe it works once or twice, but this strategy will not work all game. Chase, on a safety, who is switching from one man to another, will get consistently burnt to a crisp.

Put another safety over the top to help, and Marshall will be in one on one coverage. That's not going to end well.

And I haven't even gotten to the running game, which will open up because of this.

In conclusion, whatever they do, they are fricked.

Our staff is elite at self scouting. Also Joe Brady said himself he watches all NFL TDs to see what's working at the highest level then they implement what they think they should.

With all the slant routes LSU runs, I am surprised we haven’t run sluggo routes off of that. I think someone would pop wide open

You watch film for player tendencies and habits, not just schemes.

For example... you watch a Clemson db and notice the locked in hips. Maybe you can take advantage.

On the flip side, you watch Stingley...

...and shite your pants.

This right here is why we will win this game.

Teams are forced to play out of their comfort against LSU. They have to try and match what we do. Meanwhile we just play our game and take what they give us and attack how we can. No getting creative, just pick the weakness and attack it.

There are plenty of reasons to watch film.

I do agree that Venables will have some things up his sleeve for Joe. In particular, I expect they will try to bait the WR reads in some ways to throw off Joe and the WR, hoping to lead to interceptions. The same way they did it to Tua last year.

Problem is - they can't try it too often. If it fails, it likely opens space somewhere else.

It's their only hope but this will likely = a 3-4 TD loss.

It was rare this season that there was not an open man on every play and Burrow did not pick him up. Technically, this is an unstoppable offense.
