Exactly!

I love how people say to man up and watch the game and stay home. A real man goes to the wedding with her if he thinks he has a long term future with that girl.
If he really has a future with her, then she would understand his passion for watching his Tigers play, and he will understand her passion for something else down the road. It's not a "real man" thing, it's an understanding and compromise thing.

good point.. he should have some negotiating power based on this.

When you are married you do that. Not when you are dating. I call bull shite.

Compromise is not saying I will never do anything that causes me to miss an LSU game on tv.

Unless he is very close to marrying this girl, or is pretty sure he will propose to her, that changes things.

Well if you are not willing to take the heat, then you may have to take a hit on this one. Maybe make a deal that she has to go to a home game with you, get her to Tiger Stadium for a real good one like LSU/Bama. Then if she is not converted into a LSU homer break up with her, she is closed minded and will be trouble the rest of your life.

My wife knows to never ask me to do something that stupid when LSU plays.

Man if you just have to go to the wedding go then skip out early. If this girl is worth keeping she will let u leave early and compromise. It seems like ur the only one willing to compromise by agreeing to go. She should understand and have no prob with u leaving early. Its the wedding of her friend not urs and you arent married.

Female opinion weighing in here...
so the girlfriend wants to "show off" her guy at some function with all her friends..
Good deal... you should go, be impressive, make all the other girls tell her she is lucky to be dating you, and then YOU GET TO LEAVE and watch the game...
DAAAaauuuummmmmm! She gets to "show off" and you get to catch your game. Why do you have to stay for the entire reception??? You CARE enough to get dressed up and make a showing for this shin-dig.. and she CARES enough to not want you to miss the whole friggin game.
So simple, only a (real) woman could see it!!

the way it should be. my gf is smart enough to not ask me to do silly shite like that.
what fricktard has a wedding during football season?
the only acceptable date for a wedding during football season is during a bye week.

RoscoetheTiger,
Pick your battles. I'm gonna get flamed by all the other rantards who are telling you to man up, but...
If you've been knowing about it for months, now's prolly not the time to try to dodge it.
What you need to do is do your own tailgate -- bring a generator, satellite dish, receiver, TV and speakers, and set up on the balcony

I think if he does not man up, he can only go to LA Tech games from here on out.

one of two things come of this-weigh those options and stand by your decision, if you skip the game, it could be good for you and your girl, and one day she may share your passion for the tigers and you'd almost never miss a game on account of anything in her power, skip the wedding, and you may never know
No. More likely precedence will be set and she will know that it is ok for him to miss LSU football games.

Yea when me and my girlfriend got engaged the first thing she asked was Do the tigers play in April? She isn't a big football fan but she loves to go to the games so that's always a plus.

Girls always use this excuse.
#3 LSU will play #11 Florida in primetime once...well, hopefully a bunch of times, but I think you get the point. He can always go hang out with GF's friends.
