A coach hated by the media like this. Sure, Saban had a few prominent haters but it was nothing like Kiffin.
They can stand united in their holier than thou attitude all they want, Kiffin has done nothing that every other coach in the history of the sport has done and will continue to do
What he does do is very loudly point out the hypocrisy. They boo, hiss, and seethe at this. I cannot wait until he wins a championship, it will hit like crack.

It’s pretty wild and funny how no one said shite for 6 years while he was at Ole Miss.

Because at the end of the day, OM isn’t really a threat to take over in the hierarchy of the league. I know they’re on a good run now but that’ll die down as soon as that 30 year old QB leaves.
I can see how Kiffin rubs people the wrong way but I think a lot of the hate comes from people knowing that he could knock some teams in the league down the totem pole if he hits his ceiling here.

It’s wild to me the amount of hate they have for him. And even casual fans just repeat the same talking points. Well he left Tennessee. So what??? He left Tennessee for USC forever ago.

And had he gone there, he would be praised. When he leaves LSU, he will be hailed as the second coming of Saban by the media, wherever he lands.

So it seems that the media has more of an LSU problem. Not a Lane problem.

Saban was not wildly popular with them until he left LSU. They were unhappy with our success under him.
And to further support your statement, where was all the vitriolic outrage for Lane during his years at Ole Miss?

Lane is okay with all the attention. Helpful with recruiting. If you listen to some of his “detractors” about Lane’s reaction when they text him “hey, I was pretty hard on you”… he replies with “I saw that. That was great!”

Kiffin has done nothing most every poster on this board and in the world has not done - he took a dream job offered to him that elevated his income, status, and the ability to mold a great team in this crazy NIL football world.
There is nothing wrong with that.
I understand the feelings of betrayal that Ole Miss has experienced because I felt the same when Saban left us to go to the Dolphins and then right to Alabama.
However, Saban left to pursue a dream. There is nothing wrong with that.
Others will complain that Kiffin did it during the playoffs while ignoring the fact, Kiffin wanted to stay and coach the team during those championship games. However, it was the school and some of the players who did not want him to stay.
Regardless of the circumstances, I am never going to fault someone for seizing an opportunity to better their life and live their dream.
We are told constantly, Kiffin is going to leave you too. Eventually, he will, whether it’s because he is recruited by another team, terminated, retirement, or death. Everyone leaves it’s just a matter of when and why.

Because to them, Louisiana folk don't deserve someone who is as smart and competent as Kiffin. In their eyes, we deserve a goofball, such as Les Miles, or Coach O. It fits their narrative and gives them something to point and laugh at.
