You'll be fine if things play out the way it looks like they will.

BYU is 10-2 and beat SMU on the road. They're barely getting a sniff.

If it goes the way I think it will go, it's clear they only care about brand names and if you'd had a better season, you'd be right up there and have the more special parts of your fanbase talking about how BYU and Miami and soandso ain't shite like it changes what the TV execs want. They'll want you. Not over Bama, but, well...

Sorry. Y'all aren't Ohio State, Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame or Georgia right now. Get there a few times and you'll have a big, fat band wagon that gets you in if you're even close to deserving. Still way better off than most of us are.

I’d much prefer playing SouthWest North Dakota State rather than at Clemson to open 2025. Nothing good is gained from it & when we lose it’ll start us behind the eight ball again like always. If we don’t play USC we finish 9-3 this yr

We have 3 cream puffs in a row after Clemson opener! What’s up with that?

Week zero games are a loophole for teams that play at Hawaii, you can’t just schedule one against whoever you want

But now that it’s a 12 team playoff and teams in the SEC are more likely to make the playoff with 2 losses than not, why add another almost sure loss to start the year?

Texas does not have a top 25 win in their 11-1 schedule and lost to ranked team. Penn State beat like #22 and lost to ranked team. Both in the top 4.

Losing to a mediocre Florida team late in the season hurt a lot more than losing the opener.

The best approach is what Florida State and UCLA did the years they opened up with us. Schedule a ridiculously weak team in Week Zero to gain an opening game win and ease on in to the marquee Week One matchup oozing with confidence and with that crucial opening game victory

I don't think so. Ole Miss lost to that same Florida team the next week, while Alabama was getting crushed by Oklahoma. And yet both of them are in much better shape for the postseason than LSU

I disagree I love these matchups. I’ll never stop loving them, what needs to happen is maybe change the mandate for schedule approval till after season is over requires teams to Schedule a certain number of pog games based on a point system Base on previous years.

Say you can play a single top 10 ooc team and 3 dumpster teams or 2 top 20 ooc teams and two
Dumpsters or 3-4 top 4 teams or something like this.

Make it worth while for teams to schedule meaningful and block
Buster games or be penalized some how

Or, we can just win the games that are scheduled. Players want to play the best. The standard is being the best.

Considering BK absolutely is unable to get his team ready to walk on the field in game 1 and at least 2 more games in the regular season, you are correct. Do not schedule a team with a pulse in game 1.

Yeah if we hadn’t played USC we would be on the bubble right behind Bama. Instead we are unranked.

If LSU doesn’t play USC, the Tigers would still have the same flaws and weaknesses that it presently has and would still be one and done if they were to make it to the playoffs.

This 12 team playoff format is just an excuse for a few more games between pretenders that the networks can hype up beyond their actual merit. This is not a team that would run the table, no matter who they scheduled.

I like what the Bear said (and did) about scheduling great, tough, teams to start the season: "I know my team is going to be ready!"
I do agree with the 12 team CFP the win/loss record is most important.

When LSU scheduled the FSU series FSU was way down and had been since 2017. Unfortunately for LSU they picked the only two years since 2017 that FSU had a good team.

USC was not a good team this year.

Saw someone commenting on TV about that also. They said in the new playoff era since they aren't taking into account the SOS it is better to schedule some weaker teams and pad your record ala Indiana and Penn St.Especially if you are in the SEC which is tough enough from top to bottom. Will see how that looks in the bowl games and playoffs but I think the SEC will dominate in wins.

No we wouldn’t. We’d have fallen from top 5 to barely still ranked after that 3 game losing streak. Especially getting blown out at home by Bama and following up by looking like shite against 4-5 Florida.

We’d be ranked probably just ahead of another 9-3 SEC team who got embarassed by A&M and Bama…..Mizzou

Understood, but why is Bama ranked so high when they recently lost 24-3 to mediocre Oklahoma?

Everyone behind them either has 3 losses or they have 2 losses playing a weak ACC / Big 12 schedule.

Personally I think USCe should be the highest ranked 3 loss team with the way they've looked the 2nd half of the season, but Bama has the advantage of a h2h win over them

It was a worse loss because 1) late season losses are always more impactful in the committee’s eyes 2) It was a conference game- turns out had we won that game we are in SEC championship by virtue of tie breakers!
