This crap of the Transfer Portal and NIL, (Name Imagine & Likness) is going to kill what we know College Football to be!

Alabama cannot win championships without players from Louisiana. Saban recruits Louisiana more than he does Alabama. Many of these Louisiana kids that go to Bama end up being all Americans. It’s sickening. Hope Kelly can change that, but as long as Saban is coaching Alabama, it will not change. Great high school players want that money and to go to NFL.

How do you feel about players being processed by the school? Shouldn't the school always be loyal to them too?

The only coach that seems to hang on to his players is Saban. These guys would rather sit on the bench with little playing time than play with a team they can help. Go figure. If you are worthy the pro’s will find you.

A $50,000 buy out is the answer.

I am at a point where I am tired of these players that are all about themselves AFTER they sign to play for LSU.
Once the players have made the decision to sign with LSU and become a Tiger, I expect them to always be a Tiger. I may be naive on this, and I don't give a crap.
At this point in my life, I only want LSU to sign and play the best players they can find, THAT WANT TO BE AN LSU TIGER. If players can't get playing time and want to transfer, I understand that, but to be a starter at LSU and transfer to another school, especially a school that LSU plays every single year, is just completely and totally unacceptable to me.
I know it is there life, and they can do whatever these lousy rules allow these days, but as far as I am concerned the NCAA has destroyed college football for all but a hand full of schools....and LSU isn't one of them at this point. Time will only tell if we can catch up, but boy does football stink right now.
BTW, thanks again Joe!

Spot on. I would upvote but your lack of paragraphs spaces makes me furious!!

sort of like a buyout? end of problem, no one would ever pay for that!

I think you'd still have kids get the buyout paid, but you'd also still have some kids sitting for a year. It wouldn't eliminate transfers but it'd sure make it less inviting.

I think this would just make the problem worse. Nobody is worried about the backup guy who wants PT and is transferring to get a shot. And that's the kid that a buyout would not be paid for.

The problem is when your All-American starting CB wants to go to your rival. And that buyout would get paid every single time.

If a player signs a lucrative NIL deal, should he reimburse the school for the cost of his "scholarship"?

"Alabama cannot win Championships without players from Louisiana."

BS!

All of Bama's championships are 99% due to superior OL/DL performance and coaching.

They dominate on both Offensive and Defensive lines.

Not many Louisiana OL's/DL's at Bama.(Robinson and Mathis are the only ones I can think of recently) and they don't sink to the level of bringing in OL transfers from the College Football Poor Sisters. (Florida International)

You can get serviceable WR's, LB's and DB's anywhere.

The ones from Louisiana aren't that special. They are just coached up and put in schemes that work.....

You are unless you are saying you have only ever used 1 source for all your needs your entire life. So only had 1 job, used 1 bank, gone to 1 restaurant, used 1 dentist, doctor, etc etc.

It is their life and they can choose to do and make the decisions that they feel is best for them. A lot of them have desires of one day playing in the NFL and may have a better chance fulfilling that dream by going elswhere.

Stop letting the decision of 17-21 year old affect you.

Thanks old man. Ricks news sucks but that doesn’t make rules lousy. Some teams have been quicker to catch up with change. In 5 years this will be the norm and hopefully LSU will have benefited from these rules and win another natty.

Typical response to attack someone’s age. Change can be good or bad. In this case. In this case with no control, regulation, penalties is probably bad. The NFL has issues but compared to a totally unrestricted transfer portal and uncontrolled NIL money that will be thrown around to 17 and 18 year olds it pales in comparison to the NCAA future problems.

Just another step toward the European club team status that college football is headed toward. They need to recognized and treated like the minor league for the nfl these teams are. Just separate college from football and make it a semi-pro league. It’s a farce right now anyway.
