I hate that LSU backed down.

We should have kept the roster spots empty.
We don’t have to fill those spots.
The athletes challenged the eligibility rules and won preliminary relief. LSU simply had to decide whether to roster two of them. The SEC responded by threatening LSU’s membership, and LSU filled the two open spots with other players. Wish we didn’t but we did.
Maybe it’s part of a bigger strategy. (Acc, Big12, independent) I hope so. Because if not, the SEC tried to make an example out of LSU, and the pressure worked.
The SEC has more to lose from LSU leaving than it wants people to believe. If this is how it treats a founding member, maybe LSU should consider a future without it.
We don’t wave white flags. Not to Sankey and Alabama judge threats.
Totally pissed. Will never root for any SEC team. Hope we bounce.

As much as fans could care less about leaving the sec clearly administration and boosters feel differently. Bottom line is they don’t wanna get kicked out of the conference if we rostered those players it’s clear presidents from other schools were ready to raise hell on earth agaisnt us

I agree about not backing down but I want it over more than anything. Now, we're set up for them to suspend Kiffin for the beginning of SEC play.
They were never going to kick out LSU. This is all about 2 football players but expelling LSU from the conference affects thousands of athletes. The lawsuits that would follow would keep SEC lawyers in court for years.

I hear you. But knowing that the pressure of it makes us back down lets them take more control.

They're going to try to prove he masterminded the whole thing with the BR case. The SEC is pretty confident in that CBSSports story because that's what they referenced in the case. Then the amendment to add LOIC because of Kiffin's smartass comment Saturday.
They're going to have the votes to expel and that's going to be the deal they strike. May be for the year. May be for a few games. Who knows.

I don't know how it needs to be done, but it needs to be made clear to the SEC that this is over. If you try to suspend Kiffin or fine LSU, you'll face prosecution. If you expel LSU, you'll face prosecution and congressional investigation.

He broke no rules. How can they suspend him for an infraction he never committed?
The whole stink about this was getting "pro players" on a roster and they're not on the roster.

Hard to penalize a school for following a court order. Or potentially following. Also none of the stuff they say can be proven.
We better not accept any punishment.

That's speculative.
I get where you're coming from however Kiffin broke no rules.
There are several other incidents of the exact same thing occurring and to take it a bit further, the whole reason this thing exists in the first place was because these two players were going to be on the roster. Well, they're not.
Bottom line is LSU did nothing wrong. The more Sankey draws this out, the more he makes himself look like he's incapable of being the commissioner and it's some personal reason.

I think LSU knew it was going to go south fast at some point last week and that's guided their decisions to not comment, not sue, not roster the players, and fill the roster.
Let Sankey frick up. Let the SEC condemn itself if it's dumb enough to.
Clean them up in court afterwards.
We need a divorce.

I would not be surprised that when this case finally works it's way through the courts, the SEC gets a serious spanking, and those two players end up on our roster next year.

They are alleging that Kiffin was behind the lawsuit in Baton Rouge. Alleging that he had contact with the players before the suit, encouraged them to file the suit, and possibly even set up the legal team etc, with the help of LSU or LSU boosters.
That is what they are going after, because he clearly did not break any rule, including the new one the SEC made in a panick that is hypocritical.
Then Sankey's panties got bunched up when Kiffin made his comment at half time.
LSU also hired Will Wade back, I promise the SEC aint happy about that either.
