I guess it’s Johnny Wholestaff for game 3 for the rest of the year.

Or just start Mayonnaise who I guess Paul felt like he wanted to not throw this weekend.

I’m fine with that if I we actually use the better half of our available pitchers...

Puts a lot of pressure on Starting pitching every series in games 1 and 2: game 3 is almost a certain loss at present

Apparently don’t want to give Hellmers a chance. But we sure love to run #TeamConcede out there.

Marceaux is phenomenal and Labas is pitching extremely well for the most part, but if we don’t get 6+ very quality innings out of them we’ll go 1-2 or 0-3. Our bullpen isn’t deep enough to give us 12+ remotely quality innings over the course of a weekend. Pretty shitty situation overall

Gotta be so demoralizing for anyone in the batting order to see any of the three #TeamConcede relievers come out of the bullpen

I'd go Edwards to start on Sundays going forward then Hellmers maybe Money after him depending on how it goes and Fontenot to close. The other guys George, Hasty, Flowers, Vit... Get them work to develop on the weekday games. IMO that sounds like a better plan than Pulmonary had for the debacle yesterday (Sunday).
Kinda looked like Sad Sack Pawl didn't really have any plan.
No Gio no Hellmers gets Hillard up warming and never puts him in the game. WTF?

What was the reasoning to pinch-hit Branden for Milazzo with Ski sitting on the bench. I can see putting in Branden to catch but use Ski to hit for frick sake!

We don't need to be deep in the bullpen to win 2 or 3 on most weekends. We should've gotten 2 from Miss St and Tennessee despite a short bullpen, but we played a defensive lineup.

Marceaux, Labas, Fontenot, Edwards, Hellmers, Floyd, Money, and Hilliard should be about all you need to get through 27 innings. If you go down with those guys, well, you put your best guys out there. We didn't put our best guys out there yesterday.

Imagine this scenario:

Doughty graduates and moves on.
Milazzo gets frustrated with splitting time and signs for whatever someone will give him (he's draft eligible).
Travinski gets frustrated by losing ABs to a walk on and transfers out.
Wyeth transfers out for his last year of eligibility to actually get playing time instead of sitting at home during an SEC weekend so the bullpen catcher can travel.

Both commits sign pro.

We then have zero catchers.

It's not probable, but it's also not extremely far fetched either.

Not really sure why we don’t have more starters available

Looking back on it I can see the logic in most of the moves up until the 7th inning, and it’s just mind blowing from there.

I don’t really have an issue with Money starting. Down 5-1 and the LH and switch hitters coming up in the 5th I can even see the logic in trying to steal a few outs with Hasty. But from there to use Doughty in the top of the 7th when you have a chance to rally? Then to send Fowler back out in the B7 after you’ve cut it to 2 instead of using Hellmers, Hilliard, or Edwards? At that point you have to go for the win.

I think at least 1 of our catcher commits is a draft risk, too.

Both of them are significant draft risks. We're looking at another JUCO kid in Texas.

Agreed. I even said at the time that Hasty has been throwing better lately and if they had someone else hot in case we didn't get good Hasty then it's not the worst thing in the world.

And Hasty delivered. It wasn't perfect. He got hit hard, but we had good batted ball luck.

Fowler had earned a weekend appearance as well. But they didn't need to try to extend him.

We are all on the same page here. No one understands what PM did or why he did it. And his explanation (or lack of one) to the media being what it was didn't help matters. It feels like an extension of what he told TBob Thursday in that he doesn't know hot to fix things so he's simply throwing shite at a dartboard hoping something sticks. I don't know if that's better or worse than him truly believing BDoughty and Fowler had a better chance of success than anyone else.
