In those early 2020 games, he looked really good
Little revisionist history here. Go back and read the rant during the Missouri game when he was struggling to convert 3rd downs. His stats were a bit inflated for the first few games tbh.
3 TD’s against miss at (sacked 7 times)
4 TD’s against vandy in a thrashing
4 TD’s against Missouri. 0-10 on third down.
He had 131 attempts in 3 games with 79 completions for 60%. 11 TD’s and 3 ints. The competition was not good.

I have no reason to shite on Brennan but this a false narrative. He showed potential and was a likable guy but he never proved that he was a good quarterback. He had size and arm strength but was not ready to take over his junior year, hence why we had to find Joey B as a transfer. When he finally got his chance it was pretty bad. Very inaccurate and just not a very competitive guy. He lost his job to Max Johnson who can barely throw a football
I'm not one that has ever believed Brennan was the next great LSU QB but for injuries derailing his career. But there is a lot of incorrect information in this post.
1. Brennan wasn't a junior when Burrow transferred in. He was a Sophomore.
2. I don't think I would say he was "pretty bad" in his 3 starts in 2020. Did he have some bad moments? Sure. But so did Burrow and Daniels in their first few games as starting QBs.
3. You can probably question his overall desire to be a great QB, but I'd say he was really competitive in the best game of his career (vs. Missouri). He suffered a pretty significant injury (for a QB) in the first quarter of the Missouri game. Yet, on a day LSU's defense couldn't stop anyone he kept answering the bell time and time again.
4. He lost his job to Johnson because of injury...both times. The first in 2020. The second when he was injured on the eve of the 2021 season.
Again, I don't think he would have been an all-time great at LSU. Clearly both O and Kelly's offensive staffs didn't think that as they both brought in transfers when Brennan was in-line to be the starter. But if you are going to make arguments against him at least be factual.

Easiest thing in the world.
On the other hand, I think Brennan got to the point where football was legitimately not worth the effort. That is different than quitting, IMHO.

His arm splitting in 2 had a slight impact here.

He could’ve definitely played better against state, obviously the whole team could’ve but he didn’t allow some stiff to throw for 600+ yards. Same with Mizzou. Defense pretty much cost us in every loss. He finished that game throwing his body on the line. If anything the ending is on Linehan for that crap series of goalline play calls.

That doesn't mean Brennan is a bad guy, or even that he wouldn't have had a solid season had he not been hurt vs. Missouri. It's just evidence to refute the claims of many that he would have been a great QB but for bad luck. Clearly multiple coaches didn't think that was the case.
Especially in spring of 2018, when it was all there for Brennan to take over. We only had Justin McMillian and Lowell Narcisse at QB. It's was Brennan's job to lose.
And Orgeron saw that Brennan didn't have it - so he went out to get a transfer. Now fortunately that turned out to be Joe Burrow, but nobody knew what Burrow was at the time.

To further round out the story and close the book on Brennan.
I had little interest in Brennan until our offense slogged several games into the '22 season. For example, G5 vs Auburn, JD was 8/20 for 80 yds. That piqued my interest into just how bad must Brennan have been. So I went back and watched the '20 Mizzou game.
2020 was an odd year in all respects. Ed had fallen overboard. Covid. The D was a disaster. Chase, Vincent, and Shelvin opted out. We started true Fr (Kayshon and Arik) along with Terrace and Racey at receiver. We struggled to run the ball. Game vs Mizzou was moved from TS. That said, w.r.t. Brennan, he was pretty good vs Mizzou. He had a stronger arm than Joe or Jayden and his accuracy was good. That was his last game in P&G.
IMO (no inside info), after CBK procured JD, MB knew the offense was gonna change to require more runs from the QB. Since that wasn't his game he decided it he'd rather move on than hold a clipboard.
FTR, I do not blame CBK. He was hired to win games and in his best football judgment thought our best fortunes lie with JD. I doubt the results would've been much different in '22 had Myles started. But I don't see us being as good on O with MB as we were with JD down the stretch in '23.

No one seems to remember, but Brennan was projected to be the starter in 2018, before JB left the Buckeyes and became a Tiger.
That would have been Myles' opportunity to shine, but it was not to be. Burrow struggled early that season, but shined in Game 7 vs Georgia, and the legend was born

I follow Brennan on Insta! Dude loves hunting, fishing and is happily married. He’s living a good life. Dude always has my respect even though it didn’t work out for him.

was he just not motivated anymore
The story that I heard was that he just took all of that NIL money that he was offered during the offseason and "retired" off it. If that story is true, then I'm sure that he is financially set for a while. However, his sponsors probably didn't appreciate him quitting before he got the chance to show some stuff on the field.

ummm, I'm not looking at the stats, but seems to me he played like 4 games and had very good numbers...much like what Nuss had his first 4 games this year. Maybe I'm not remembering correctly.

different opinions but I remember that his real coming out party was against Central Florida in the Bowl game after he got hit hard on the field I think after a pick.
Not to say he didn't play better the second half of the season, because he did. He was pretty average to maybe a little below average his first several games.
