Duke and NC have a lot better players.

Wade was a great recruiter, LSU had more talent (supposedly) than most teams we played. His forte seems to be rangy athletic guys.

There fixed it for you. He just wasn't as good at it as Duke, Kansas, N. Carolina or anyone else in he Big East or Big Ten.

Wade was a flat out average coach with good “recruiting.” That isn’t what wins in March and his results show it.

Hard to deny this logic. WW won 1 Tournament game at LSU. Just 1.

All Will Wade did was buy players. He got them and didn’t know what to do with them.
Will Wade’s “offense” was unstructured at best.

McMahon is about ten years older than was Wade at starting point at LSU. Would Wade’s VCU teams have stomped Murray State this year? Of course we don’t know, but perhaps it’ll help us transition to the coaching change from a better perspective. I’m going to bet the extra ten years experience will somehow pay off (day one) in better transactional common sense.

You criticized Wade’s offensive coaching when his teams are consistently rated at the top of the country on offensive efficiency…and you’re saying I’m the one that’s not smart.

The final four teams aren't better coached, they just have better players. Compare our starting lineup to North Carolina, let alone Duke. Eason is the only player that would have started for any of them. They ran the same kind of plays, rubbing the point guard off a high pick so he could drive. Taking three's from the corners and wings. Feeding the low post. They just shot and passed the ball a lot better because they had better individual talent. If Wade cheated in recruiting , he still couldn't keep up with the old guard of Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, Villanova, Kentucky, Michigan, etc.

They get 5*'s let alone McDonald's All Americans every year without fail. If one of them doesn't pan out they have two others to put in their place. Let's see how many of our players in the portal go to quality programs or how many end up big dogs at mediocre schools. Murray and Reid are the only ones that will be in demand.

He’s only in his 30s. If you gave him 10 more years of coaching

This is the stupidest gaslighting talking point that’s regurgitated here. Wade’s teams played in 3 tournaments. Two were under coordinated attacks to undermine him and cause disruption or get him fired. Two of the 3 times teams were in the tournament, there was humongous distraction to the team. The other tournament that Wade did coach, they were an 8 seed where most likely outcome was to win 0 or 1 games. Wade’s teams won 3 games total over 3 tournaments with huge distractions overhanging the team. Without coordinated attacks from media and NCAA, who look the other way in other instances, and Wade coaching his team without distractions, who knows how many his teams might have won. Team won 3 games under his tenure. I suspect it likely could have been more but we’ll never know.

His "style" and coaching would be completely different than those 4 teams playing. If he was still here and had his original recruiting class with Adam Miller they are a legit preseason Top-10 team. They would matchup hypothetically well with UNC, Duke, and Nova, but Kansas would be an issue if a typical Bill Self team could control tempo.

quote:

We all know WW could “recruit” but the idea he was some next level coach, I never saw it.

Year before he got to LSU
10-21 (2-16 SEC)

Wades first year did not have time to recruit other than Waters.
18-15 (8-10 SEC)
He also had a much tougher Non-con schedule CJJ would just schedule his buddies and little sisters of the poor.

Now granted comparing any coach to CJJ does not mean you are some next level coach. But Wade is one of the best "young" coaches in college basketball and compare what he has done up to this point in his career with others same going back at the same age. Might surprise you how many legends right struggled mightily.

“recruit”

Why did you put it in quotes he was not doing anything different than anyone else. Players actually took less money under the table to come to LSU.

quote:

WW would never win a championship here.

He won the SEC in year 2. Oh you meant Natty....how many national championship winning coaches are there active. Again go look at some of the "best" right now how old were they when they won their first championship.

Runs the same base but they quickly diverge when it goes into secondary and then what they look for when it breaks down.

Insert quite literally any other college coach even mid majors are funneling money to handlers.

Yeah only made the NCAA tourney every year except his first year and that was solely due to CJJ basically quitting.

Why did you put offense in quotes. Wade's offense may not be the norm. But having gone to over 15 practices when I was in undergrad his first year. He quite literally tripled CJJ and TJ in terms of number of sets the players have to know. It is quite literally meant to be "unstructured". I think you are trying to say its some kind of street ball one on one that the rant regurgitates. But it is all actually extremely impressive to see structured he would get it possession by possession to get guys in one on one mismatches and let them go to work. You may think it is "unstructured", then you should have probably told the vast majority of the country and SEC maybe they should have unstructured their offenses more like Wade and put up the numbers they did.

The WW cult can't let it go. They believe Trump is President, JFK is appearing in Dallas and the Easter Bunny will be here soon.

Curious to know if you actually watch or follow LSU basketball with a healthy Adam Miller and had the incoming recruits he had signed/committed how good do you think LSU would have been next year?
