Early Paul was awesome. He coasted in his later years but he won a national championship. How many LSU coaches can claim that? It was definitely time to move on. He is more deserving of a statue than Dale Brown or Sue.

There was never a single shred of evidence that he was getting the most out of the program post-2010

5 straight years of hosting super regionals with top 8 seeds post 2009…..guess that did nothing for you

He’s one of ours and will forever be a part of LSU Baseball. I respect that. Some of us were tough on him because he could never live up to the success of Coach Skip Bertman- THE Skip Bertman. The Legendary college baseball GIANT who many of us forget he didn’t actually succeed as HC. We all wanted him to live up to that gold standard, which is a very hard task. Well, he fought the good fight.

Anyway….

I’m enjoying the hell out of this season. I’m really enjoying seeing our HC building his own LSU Baseball monster.

Your players? What university paid you to coach?

Agree with this post and I was not a fan of PM’s coaching in the waning years.

but I will say that Jay Johnson was the best hire.

Nah, Vitello would have been.

I value flexes over rivals either in our conference or the top 10.

Take a lap, Otis.

Not a victory lap. A punishment one.

Our baseball program is still a gorilla when we don’t have a coach who likes to recruit an average player size of 5’6” 130 pounds and fill the coaching staff with his ex players

He coached in a decade where that actually was the makeup of a lot of championship teams.

We are exiting the era of small ball in college baseball. And we got a great coach for that.

Ha.

Every great coach, in every sport, does this.

How many times do you see a “players coach” win a championship?

Jay hasn’t proven anything yet.
I think he will have great success here, but so far Jay Johnson has not:

Won a national championship

Won the SEC Tournament

Won the SEC regular season

Beaten Tennessee

Beaten La Tech

As I said earlier, I’m a big fan of Jay Johnson, but pump the F ing breaks

The man won us a national championship a bag full of SEC tourneys, numerous CWS and two finals appearances.
Why can’t you just respect the man and what he accomplished for LSU, and appreciate Jay at the same time? I really don’t understand the level of misery and anger some of y’all live with.

Your opinion of me is interesting and your concern for my health is touching.

How does that relate for the need that some of you have to denigrate people who have actually achieved something in life, especially in regard to former LSU coaches?

What compels you to do that?
