re: I don’t get why E catches so much flak

Keyboard idiot is what you are. I bet you can play a mean game of Madden though. It’s probably where you learned all you know about football!

Cause LSU fans suck balls for the most part.

It shouldn’t have needed fixing in the first place FFS.

Doesn’t Linehan call 3rd down & red zone?
Yes, I don’t like him. I would keep E for now, and get rid of linehan.

I just always thought we were so adamant about staying wide open like last year, we ignored the fact we weren't the same as last year. We didn't have Burrow and then we didn't even have Brennan. But we did everything this year like we did last year. Case in point, in the A&M game, we clearly could not handle their blitzing, but we continued to empty the backfield and send five guys out in the pattern. No max protecting, no chipping, no keeping a back in to blitz protect. It was not working, which wasn't a surprise with a bad offensive line and true freshman quarterbacks. But we kept doing it. The lack of adopting the offense to the team we had THIS YEAR was to me the biggest problem. No question it was a crazy arse year, so maybe it's not fair to be overly critical, but I was disappointed.

You are spot on
Think e didn't or couldn't change the offense.
I feel like it worked so well that they thought lets do the exact same thing no matter what.
If that's the case what was the point of scott linehan
Shouldve brought in another young guy with a great system and merged the two.
The running game was infuriating

It took him over half the year to realize how good Of a WR Boutte was. Or was it the TJ or Max Fiasco , If he was soooo good he should know which QB to start after 2 games of action. Isn’t he the one CEO is depending on for offense evaluation?
E has got to Go!

I agree.
We had 3 different starting QBs, and by season's end a completely different group of skilled guys than we started with.
The OLine couldn't open holes for the running game or help get us a running game going.
Calling plays woulda been hard no matter who was designing the offense.

The first half of the year we had Marshall and Gilbert as receivers. Boutte was playing quite a few snaps. Are you surprised a true FR that didn't get a spring practice may need some time to learn the playbook and be ready for SEC competition?

Reportedly TJ looked better in practice and knew the playbook better. He also looked great in his first start. You can't predict how a player will handle being under real game pressure.

It is time for E to step down, but given no spring, losing the starting QB, his top 2 targets opting out mid season, a porous OL, RB injuries and finishing with mostly FR and Soph skill players, he did pretty damn good.

I think he deserves a ton of credit. I think he did the best he could with what he had. When you have the losses to personnel we had before the season, it was an uphill battle. Then you lose your best WR, some OL, then eventually your starting QB, your last real veteran WR and your first AND second string RBs, it went from an uphill battle to climbing Mount Everest while someone is shooting at you with an RPG. This year was really just an impossible task. The defense is another story, but at least they finished the season with a show of heart. They didn’t play well, but at least they didn’t just mail it in. They tried to and did make some big plays. They just weren’t consistent.

He called a good game for the most part yesterday I will give him that.
I’d like to see a breakdown of plays called per down. Play calling seemed very predictable to me:
1st Down: Run
2nd Down: curl, post route
3rd Down: just throw to Boutte.

So E is the ultimate Tiger. Nobody dislikes him.
Now let's be objective.
Prior to 2019, E was historically average to below average as an OC in his career.
In 2019, Joe Brady was hired as PGC, and was responsible for two things E evidently needed help with.
1. Installing a modern offense
2. Being in charge of red zone and 3rd down play calling.
Go check our 3rd down and red zone offense this year.
And before you claim "meh, true freshman QBs".... we literally went 0fer 3rd downs in a game and couldn't score with the game on the line and first and goal from the friggin 2... with Myles at QB.
Keep E on staff somewhere if he wants to stay, build him a statue if he wants to retire. But get a damn OC.
