I don't think Canada had total control of the offense after the first 4 games

He almost certainly didn't, as O was looking for the nearest window to push him out of. I think it's absolutely fair to bash O for making a hire of a guy he clearly did no research on. Not only is Canada a difficult personality, he runs an offense that was contrary to everything O promised when he got hired about how we were gonna throw it around. So, that's a huge error and it's on O.

But he also fixed the problem. What some called meddling, I call fixing the problem. The offense got better as the season moved on as we saw less of Canada's presnap motions and we became a more traditional offense. LSU was a better team in November than it was in September, and I have to give some credit to his meddling. If he did nothing, people would be ripping O for fiddling while Rome burned. It's his program, he absolutely needed to seize control of the sinking ship. Now, it's his fault the ship was sinking in the first place, but I do credit him for actively fixing the problem instead of sitting around and waiting for his OC to bail him out.

Notice that O doesn't really meddle with the defense. That's because Aranda is great, produces results, and has a unit that really could be spectacular this season. We go as far as Aranda can take us, and I'm not uncomfortable putting it in his hands.

In total agreement. Imo Aranda is the most important member of the entire staff.

And most coaches also hire people they haven’t worked with before.

Les hires a lot of coordinators he had never worked with before.

Jimbo, Pellini, Chavis, Steele, Aranda, Krapthorpe.

Saban has hired Coordinators he hasn’t worked with before. Kiffin, Daboll, McElwain, Nussmeir, Applewhite.

CUM had never worked with Herman befor.

Jimbo has never worked with his DC before.

Mullen has Nevr worked with HImis DC before.

Etc etc...

O hires guys he’s comfortable imwith first and foremost.

Yeah, going with who you know is a very limited talent pool in most cases.

Don’t forget about UF too.

Gaining over 400 yards of offense isn't sucking.

The offense was fricked up because the players didn't know it. I don't understand why people can't get that.

They don't want to. It's damages their perpetual outrage

Yep, even after I posted direct quotes from two offensive linemen they still are too hardheaded to accept it. That is why I love this board - seeing people dig themselves into holes even after they should know better.

Getting 3 points in 4 possession inside the 10 yard line does suck though.

But O ducked it up even worse.

Literally 3 people having a circle jerk and ignoring the fact that a career DL coach decides he could fix our offense and proceeded to make it worse.

You mean the coach he butted heads with all year and fired before the bowl game?

Yeah he made an unknown hire.

All seasons were not created equal my friend. Winning 9 last season was disappointing. Winning 9 this season would be somewhat impressive.

Well said my friend. We should have won at least 2 more last year, and this year is a tougher row to hoe.

Seems like every other year or 4th year the talent and schedule align for a good result. We're still young and have one of the toughest schedules in the nation. Only UT plays both UGA and Bama like us. Both teams will struggle.

I'm hoping for the best, but think this is a set up year for next.

The offense got better when Ed Os boss told him to back the F off Canadas play calling. Ed O said the offense was too complicated when Canada got here and when he did that, he gave his assistance the green light to follow suit and not invest in learning it. If it was nothing but shifts and motions its because they couldn't learn the plays based on defensive adjustments

You honestly think Aranda is going to say a single bad word about O?

He didn't have to elaborate and give the example he did. Do you think he is lying?

Is Dave Aranda a liar?

Well there's a rumor that Canada wasn't his choice. Canada was forced on him.

Whether Canada was forced on him or if Canada was his choice. neither scenario speaks well of O.
