I did not realize how much yesterday’s starting WVU pitcher physically struggled

I know he was uncomfortable from the stands. He was going so often to the rosin bag and he definitely looked a little sweaty. But now I’m watching a replay, and good lord he was struggling for breath and his jersey was soaked by the second inning. They really did have a bad time with the humidity. Hopefully they got some good food while down here so they don’t think south Louisiana is just water in the air.

I think their HC was asked about it and he was dealing with an illness a few days prior.

He looked like he had a case of COPD when he was out there. Dude looked ready to pass out.

quote:yes he was sick. Messing with that heat with any illness is a recipe for disaster. We still win the game even if he was 100%

Everyone was struggling with the weather yesterday. It was hot and muggy as hell.

Dew point was a killer this weekend

I was at that Auburn football game that LF went bonkers, it had to be the hottest game ever, I was grasping for air like WV pitcher.

Can you imagine the stories those guys will tell throughout the years of the time they played LSU in a super regional in Baton Rouge and it was their first time being in the gulf south in June? I bet they'll never forget the way they couldn't breathe in the humid heat. Hell, sometimes it hits me too hard and I've been here my whole life, I can't imagine how someone from West Virginia who's never been here in the summer must feel.

He’s headed back to work the coal mines for the summer.

His mustache was really cool though!

I played a round of golf Saturday afternoon and one Sunday morning this weekend. The humidity was brutal. I ate and drank plenty during the rounds and didn't gain a pound. In middle school a guy I got to know well moved from California somewhere on the coast to the BR area. They moved in the summer. He said when he got here he didn't understand why it was harder to catch his breath just doing things around the house like cutting grass.
As to the OP - yes - you could tell on TV. He was laboring. Didn't look like he was ever comfortable.

App State game in 08 made that game feel like a fall afternoon.

2 years later, 2017, Dural ran the punt back and we can from 9 points down in the 4Q to win.
That was perhaps the hottest game in Tiger Stadium history. People thought everyone from the East side left. They were all sitting on concrete and watching the game on TVs by the concession stands just to get out of the sun.

The UGA game in 2018 was pretty damn hot too. The sun was just parked on the East side of Tiger Stadium all game long.
UGA fans swear that’s why they lost by 20

I have an aunt in Alaska that wanted to come visit and go to the casinos. She came in August and she thought she was going to die. She couldn't understand how we could adjust to the humidity and heat.
On a separate note, I went to Laguna Beech years back ago. Two guys in a store were bitching about how hot it was. It was freaking 78 with no humidity and a cool breeze coming off the ocean.

Looked like he could have been in A-Fib

There was a game last year that was brutal. UCLA I think? Saw many people passed out and having to be carried out.

App State 2008 was like watching a game on the surface of the sun. UCLA 2024 was just as bad if not worse

That old boy wiped his whole body down with the rosin bag it seemed like……I almost felt bad for him at the end.

Summer heat in LA literally kills people who spend too much time moving around under the sun.
It’s 77 degrees in Morgantown right now. I’d kill for that weather.
