Doug can stay only if Herbstreet can shepherd him like he does Corso.

It is time for a change in the booth. Bring in Hester or Booger.

I could not agree more. Doug has had a good run but he's alot like listening to Jordy and Lloyd, mostly emotional takes and not much of anything, to add value to the coverage or commentary. It's like someone's pawpaw got lost going to the bathroom and ended up in the booth.

Time to move on.

Doug is 78

I thought he was substantially older. He played as a senior for the Tigers in 1964; that was 59 years ago!

You mean he started LSU at the age of 16!?

His birthday is 2/15/45. He was 18 during 1963 season as a sophomore and finished LSU at 20 in 1965 (that implies that he started LSU at 17). The AFL drafted him before he turned 21 on November 27, 1965 (draft was early back then).

You may have been at LSU at the same time as my father-in-law.

I always wince when I hear these corn-pone ex-players yee-hawing and doing color on SEC and Big 12 broadcasts.

And then I try to listen to Doug Moreau and I'm filled with sadness because he used to be so great to listen to....and now he arrives clearly unprepared and stumbles and bumbles through the entire game. He needs to bow out gracefully so LSU can give him a grand farewell.

The best new crew would be Chris Blair on the play by play (he's great), Gordy in the booth doing the color, and Hester replacing Gordy on the sideline.

We would have the best announcing team in the SEC.

He doesn’t have the code to the nuke arsenal so unless you think Biden should be replaced maybe you should put things in perspective. Listening to Jim is about loyalty and pride and great fullness for so many years of perfectly called games. Glass is still half full for sure.

Doug, is that you?

Ferguson was WBRZ and who was the fellow from WAFB who was the stadium announcer? I can hear their voices now. And announcing doctors code numbers to call exchange all during the game.

You are the problem. The generation like you are why our stadium isn’t entering the 21st century as far as fan experience. It’s people like you that make our commentating team second rate. There is always a time for the next generation to take over and for the previous to hang it up. To your point, Joe Biden shouldn’t run the president, and Doug Moreau shouldn’t be our color commentator, and you and your generation shouldn’t have any more say so in anything LSU going forward.

Crazy timing on the thread for me. I jumped on YT to actually watch the call of the game, because for almost all of my life he has been a voice on the radio call of the games. Obviously, as a politician and BR area celebrity figure, I knew what he looked like. I probably even saw him in coverage for the Tigervision years. But I never watched him do the radio analyst work before this Georgia State game.

While he didn't look like he was in poor health (relative to his age), his energy level clearly isn't what it used to be. I assume, the plan is to put Gordy in the booth and, I guess T-Bob (or whomever), on the sideline as a long-term succession process?
