It doesn’t matter how good he is it’s coming down to defense. Our’s is badass and there’s replaces 7 starters from a already shitty D.

Not to mention the 6 starters they're replacing on O. Returning 48% of total defensive production and 58% of offensive production from last year. I don't like wild preseason predictions, but I really have a hard time believing Ehlinger is going to beat LSU by himself.

He’s going to have a couple of good running backs. Their O-line lost 3 starters but got a very good grad transfer. He lost his best receiver though. They’re going to have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball but I don’t think they’ll hit their stride til later in the season. They will be a tough out this year (I think we’ll win) but a very tough out next year.

They're a year away from being legit playoff competitors.

This is why some fans get disappointed: They buy in to every LSU player being the absolute best while the players on other teams are overrated scrubs. You see it in football and baseball (and to some degree basketball).

Then, when LSU loses to a good team, the "fire the coach" mantra starts.

I've been saying that if ehlinger pulls that running shite on our defense, he will get broken in half. He's already going to be getting pressured enough by our defense in the pocket. He will get destroyed if he tries to run on our defense like he does against those sissy big 12 defenses. He's gonna find out rally quick what kind of ball LSU plays...I'm gonna be loving every minute of it too. Geaux Tigers.

Dave Aranda has had waaaaaay too much time to prepare and implement a complex game plan to shut his arse down...and he will. Texas and ehlinger are in trouble, man. LSU has the personnel to do whatever the frick we want on defense. That's a scary thought. Dave Aranda with the most talent he has ever had to utilize since he started coaching. That is where our defense stands right now from a talent and gameplanning standpoint. Texas is fuuuuucked.

IDK, he's a big kid at 6'3 235. He stands a greater chance of getting hurt if he gets hit standing flat footed in the pocket. It's early in the season so I don't know if Aranda's planning to dial up the pressure on him. I suspect he'll play a little soft early then adjust with more pressure as the game progresses.

he’s got two consecutive top 3 recruiting classes to help him.

Look, I think we’ll win, but what’s the deal with this board shitting so much on Texas? They beat OU and UGA last year. They’re recruiting at an elite level. The game is in Austin. It will be a fight.

Aranda is going to bring the pressure from the get go and try to rattle him early and often. I can guarantee you that. I don't care how big ehlinger is, he will get busted up if he runs around like he did last season on those weak arse defenses. Chaisson is going to give him nightmares.

All those freshmen and sophomores with very little experience in game 2? Gotcha.

he wouldn't account for 41 total touchdowns in this conference. In fact, he wouldn't come close.

If he played for Ole Miss, sure. If he played for Bama or Georgia, I think he could.

Numb nuts. I’m saying BIG 12 QBs do not play an SEC schedule week in and week out. If you think his stats would have been that good in this conference then you’re a delusional human being.

Yep. His nubers would have been less for sure had he been playing LSUs schedule last season instead of that weak arse schedule Texas played. Who you play does make a difference lol. I can't believe some of yall can't grasp that concept.

His stats likely dip some depending on the SEC schedule but trying to downgrade a player based on a couple games isn’t fair at all. First off the players around him are also Big-12 guys so if we’re going to open this can of worms we can’t just look at it from one side. What if he plays for LSU, Alabama or UGA do his stats suffer then? Probly not and getting hung up on this is just ignorant. Where have the last 2 number 1 overall picks come from? What about the majority of most young NFL QBs in recent years, do they come from the SEC? Also whether or not his stats would dip doesn’t change what his talents are or change the threats he presents. Would him rushing for 382 yards instead of 482 change the fact that he’s a threat to run? Would 250 fewer passing yards change his ability to throw the ball? Haggling over hypotheticals isn’t going to change the challenge we face in Texas or their QB and I’m not sure why we’d want to push a narrative that weakens our opponents profile? Isn’t it better to beat good teams with good players or do we just pump them up after we win games to make certain we look like hypocrites?

Lemme know the last time Ehlinger did that in the SEC

If burrow played that level of defense every week his stats would be significantly better.

Then let’s compare out of conference games. In their respective four OOC games in 2018:

Ehlinger: 11 total TDs, 1,072 total yards, 62% completion percentage (this includes an SEC opponent in Georgia)

Burrow: 7 total TDs (four of which came in the bowl game vs UCF), 936 total yards (418 of which came vs UCF), 54% completion percentage

Get ready for the “Southeastern was better than UGA because muh effort” excuse. You’d be surprised how many guys like him use unprovable speculation as the backbone of every argument they make. He literally called a hypothetical statement a “fact” in this very thread.
