I have to agree, We've played A&M many times already. Nothing there to win playing them. So what we recruit in Texas. Any recruits that we want I'm sure we won't have to battle A&M for. Maybe Texas but A&M? Seriously? We will be in Jerry's World to start the season next year anyway. Not like we are missing out on that one either. So why not go play a higher ranked team who I think is the better team. Makes for a bigger game and payout. Two top ten teams playing is better than a top ten and a top twenty team. And for those saying the MSU is a shite team well guess what, I hate to break the news to you but so is A&M.

LSU beating a top 10 team is better for us than a top 20 team period.

So LSU can play Jan 1 and be one of 4 games playing, start at 12 pm after parting on New Years Eve, play on a crappy field, be on cable, and get over shadowed by bigger games.

OR...they can have a stand alone game, start at 7 pm, play in a cathedral, on network TV, and lead that network into the wild card round of the NFl Playoffs.

Seems like a no-brainer to me.

I to remember those days. Growing up in L.A. in my household it was, get up, watch the Rose Parade, watch the Rose Bowl, and then end it with the Orange Bowl.

So if money doesn't matter then LSU should reject an invitaion to the Rose Bowl and take a game in Atlanta or Dallas to appease the local fan base....

why do people get hung up on the money, LSU will get the same amount either way as long as an SEC team goes to the Cap One

We're not invited to the Rose Bowl.

Our choices are Cotton and Cap1, and the $$$ that goes to LSU for either of those two choices is EXACTLY THE SAME.

You're from North East Texas, don’t you realize none of the real Louisianans give a flying f—k what you think. LSUS isn’t LSU jackass.

Any LSU fan with a brain.

1. Cap 1 was the biggest POS last year. Why would we want to go back to that shite hole again.
2. LSU recruits big in Texas. Helps out recruiting there.
3. LSU plays Oregon first game of the season next year. A chance to check out the field and the players get used to it.
4. aTm holds a 5 game winning streak over LSU. I know you younger fans probably don't remember the rivalry but it is a chance to shut aTm fans up over that shite.
5. Day time New Year's eve bowl or Friday night 1/7/10 bowl? Give me the friday night lights.

This. By SEC rules LSU will get the same money if the play Cap 1, Cotton, or Peach. The rest of the money goes to the SEC and split evenly throughout the league.

Are you telling me that a team that plays in the Cap 1 and a team that plays in the Gator or Music City will share the same revenue??? I'll betcha the team that plays in the Cap 1 walks away with more money.

I don't remember what the exact payouts are for the SEC teams but let's say the cotton pays 3 million each team and Capitol One pays 4.25 millions per team. An SEC team will get like $175,000 the rest then goes to the SEC office were it is split among the 12 teams equally to keep a competitive league. Not all Conferencces does it this way. In the SEC based on bowls I think a lower tier bowl you get like $85k, upper you get $175k, and a BCS game you get like $300k. My numbers could be off but you get the idea.

So LSU gets the same money for the Cotton or Cap 1 for the 100th time.

Yes. Competitive balance of the conference. It is what makes the SEC great.

I'm going to assume that the "13" in this dude's handle is his age.

Always gotta love the WalMart fans who obviously don't travel to support the team (if he did he'd know that CapOne tix were available for cheap right up until game time last year while Cotton Bowl is already sold out), and don't follow the sport well enough to understand bowl payouts, yet want to dictate how the program should be run.

As for his ridiculous comment about "local fans," I wonder who he thinks funds TAF so he can enjoy a winning product from his parents' living room? And, as anyone who has ever traveled outside of their home parish might know, there are a whole lot of LSU alums in Texas (LSU Fan Forever, if you don't know what an alum is, it's someone who actually attended the university and went on to gainful employment) who donate to TAF and travel with the team. Should be a good game experience for those lucky enough to get tickets.
