This is the epitome of an LSU basketball fan

please pay attention I already said I don't know who pays what.
the only way to disagree with what I am saying is to make the claim that money does nothing.
you also left out the first part of my quote. I didn't say more money leads to winning. I said "seems conceivable that having less money does hurt the team and lead to losing"
do you think its inconcievable?

Look, most of the roster could be replaced. Chest was one of the few "dudes" that we had and was worth keeping. I don't know if they told him to test the market, but my feelings wouldn't be hurt if they found a spot for him back on our team.

you cant know that unless you lose with money.
I can know that by watching the product put on the floor the last few years.
Anybody with even the smallest amount of basketball sense can see this.

I believe the fans here like to claim to be more sophisticated than they are about understanding X's and O's and the inner workings of the team and players.
for example, you don't know if player X is uncoachable. you don't know what plays were called and not run.
now, you can say "well if the players are uncoachable idiots, that's the coaches fault". and that would be true. but the elephant in the room is whether coach could afford the players he wanted.

The leaked strategy basically amounts to asking our money guys to drop millions on a coach that almost certainly will be bought out within the next 2-3 years.
This. How does it make financial sense to have donors pump money into a coach who extremely likely to get fired next season.
Woodward is not making chess moves, he’s throwing a Hail Mary to save his own hire, because it’s his hire, it’s that simple. Had he inherited MM, he’d probably be shitcanned.

if you pump money in and the money causes the team to win, he wont get fired.
you guys seem to think that McMahon is so terrible that no amount of money could help him win.
the reports that say there is more money available, I am in no position to say those reports are false. I also think that all other things being equal, having more money than less is a positive. I can't rule out that mcmahon plus more money equals more wins. and the goal is wins.

He’s a wonderful coach with a great family.

It ain't money. Go look at the resumes of the majority of the coaches now in this conference. He's a guppy swimming with sharks.

I find it amusing people complain about the product on the floor, but they also complain when those same guys that couldn't get it done leave. There are maybe 4 players I'd consider paying to keep.
Posted on 3/24/25 at 4:25 pm to jamarr
If you were an SEC AD looking for a HC, what current SEC basketball coaches would you not hire over McMahon?
Posted on 3/24/25 at 4:30 pm to MasterofTigerBait
We have gone pretty far from the "This team with Ward and Reed would have been good" to now
"None of these kids can pull their pants up we have to replace everyone!"
I was hoping we could keep 5 kids that can develop together then supplement them with some 4 good transfers. but now idk.

They don't want to pay the buyout in basketball or admit it was a bad hire and contract.
It was a bad hire. It was a cheap hire. They got what they paid for. He's the lowest paid HC with the lowest buyout in the conference. The contract isn't what's wrong in this situation. He was paid market value for being the worst coach in the league, which is less than everyone else in the league. I honestly have no idea why this narrative keeps getting repeated on here.

I can’t even decide if I think the millions in increased NIL is real.
Should find out soon, I guess.

With the WW debacle LSU lost the entire roster. Near death penalty. Year two certainly the recruiting part of year two LSU BB still had the probation over hang.
LSU was 9 and 9 in a very tough SEC last year.
SEC got better. LSU poor voted it.
Avg NIL in the SEC was $750k per starter. LSU was at $250k. Whether MM is the guy or not. Those dynamics weren’t going to,bring winning basketball. The Cenac kid from New Orleans got $4 million to go to Houston LSU BB was recruiting and paying at a mid major level.
If Jalen Reid does not get hurt you probably win 2 or 3 more games and make the tournament.
None of this means that MM is the guy… but there are/were a lot more issues than just the coach.
No coach we want will come here without a much larger budget.

It’s BS, they just discovered NIL? Give me a break and what about last season, did we spend money on that team then decided not to this year? What about recruiting, 2 top 15 classes in three years with 2 and 3 wins for those teams. The class ranked in the 40s won more than 3 times the top 15 classes did so this BS narrative doesn’t even hold water.
