People that own inkjets cant math very well.

And Brother printers are sometimes OK, and slightly less shitty than HP, on occasion.

They have been doing that for years

I bought my HP 8610 printer over 15 years ago and I always used off brand ink in it. It was heartbreaking when it finally crapped out I figure if I get 4-5 years out of the new one, I’ll be lucky

I have a printer in my shop. Use it everyday. Was buying HP cartridges for years and finally got the Shaq printer. Now I dont have to worry about them

Huge upgrade

Get a tank printer

Buy extra ink from amazon

Print thousands of color pages to fill in at the old folks home for a few bucks

I have an old HP printer and every time I install a new cartridge it pops up with an error message saying that it’s not an HP cartridge. I say ok and that’s the last time I see that message

My parents have gotten themselves caught in this same scam that HP is running.

It’s one of the dumbest things HP could possibly do. This bullshite is starting to catch on nationwide and I hope it ends with a class action lawsuit over this bullshite.

I have no respect for a business plan that is straight up fraud with inflated costs for a cartridge that doesn’t even work.

Planned obsolescence and schemes like this should be a federal crime.

Can’t honestly remember the last time I had a need to print something out. Have never owned a printer.

I remember that scene from the office scored with Gangsters Paradise. Was I somehow imagining that?

HP also sucks now, but unfortunately, they are the best option.

Best option for what?

If they couldn't do that then they'd just charge you a lot more for the printer. This way they make the printer cheap so everyone buys one even if you rarely use it, then crank up the price on the ink so they can make more $ off of businesses and people who really need it and use a lot of ink

Bow up and get a laser. Not Brother.

Laser used to be the way, but the chip technology eventually made its way into those printers too.

An Epson Ecotank is the way to go. My office has been using them for about two years now trouble free. We are even cheap and buy the non Epson ink. Still works like a champ.
