SC BBQ is the best in the nation, except for Texas. The SC BBQ sauce is similar that in East Texas and is perfect with pulled pork

Head to Highlands for a round of golf at Old Edwards or High Hampton

Greenville has an airport as well but not sure if you can get a direct flight. If not, fly into Clt then Gville. I would avoid flying into Atl since drive from even Clt is much easier.

If money is not an object, the hotel you should stay at without a doubt is the Bohemian. It’s absolutely stunning and right by the waterfall and right in the middle of downtown. You could literally walk pretty much anywhere. If not that one, there are plenty of good hotels downtown like your Hilton, Westin, Radisson, etc. All of them are nice. As far as restaurants if you’re looking for a great steak, I really recommend Hall’s steakhouse. Or Rick Erwin’s West End, they probably have some of the best seafood in town. My other favorite restaurant is urban Wren, which has a little bit of everything. If you’re looking for a great speakeasy bar, you’ve got to go to Swordfish. There really are so many great places around downtown to stay and eat. These are just a few. You are right on the Swamp rabbit Trail as well so you can always walk that to see what else you find as far as food and bars etc…

What was flooded? The Bohemian?

We have friends in Henderson NC and will be staying there. We will drive over for the game.

It's nice. I have a kid in school there. Super clean and safe (considering). Beautiful campus, though no LSU! Nice little bar scene on College Avenue which is walking distance from the stadium. Renting a place on Lake Hartwell would be a bonus or stay in Greenville and make a nice weekend of it- either way would be a good time.

Greenville is a nice town. Downtown is walkable and safe. Plenty of places to eat. Lake Hartwell is beautiful. Good golf the area too
Clemson fans can be every bit as annoying as Bama fans though.

If you’d like a little cooler weather at the end of the summer, drive the winding mountain roads to Cashiers and Highlands, NC. Beautiful hiking trails, vistas and waterfalls. Welcome relief toward the end of a long, hot summer!

I would compare it to Blacksburg - definitely a college town. Nice campus. We tailgated in Blacksburg the night before and the day of the VA Tech game and had a really good time. Met Dandy Don and had a really good conversation with him. Despite the game we had a lot of fun and basically took over the parking lots. Tech fans had never seen anything like it before. I ended up with about 40 tickets so I was able to help several people out. The rematch at LSU in 2007 is one of the two best regular season LSU games I've ever seen in person. The other was when we clobbered Oregon in Dallas to open the season in 2011 I think. Years tend to run together as you get older!!

The past couple of years, United has added flights for big college football game weekends. Last year, they added flights to/from BTR for USC, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Alabama, Oklahoma. I would imagine there will be a direct flight to Greenville that weekend.

He is talking about the Bohemian in Greenville which didn’t flood and is a very beautiful hotel that all you traveling fans should stay at if possible.
The Bohemian in Asheville flooded and the whole first floor is currently being rebuilt.
Greenville is by far the better option for this game.
If you’re road tripping, bring your bike and hop on the Swamp Rabbit Trail. If you like to hike, Table Rock State Park and Jones Gap State Park are two great close options to Greenville.
If you have kids, go to Falls Park or Unity Park. Unity Park has a really really good playground and splash pad.
If you like to get drunk, go to Group Therapy, do the indoor putt putt, and try to get a hole in one on the Happy Gilmore hole at the end.

Gotcha, we stayed at the Bohemian last week for my bday so I was thinking, seemed good to me
Another thing to add to your list if you bring kids is the new Pickleball court facility, which is also next to Unity Park and the Commons area. It’s got great restaurants/bars and about 12 pickle ball courts? It’s really cool.

The Bohemian is always my public restroom destination when I'm down there

Cities would kill to have a park/commons to have this. To have this plus Falls Park, with both connected by the Swamp Rabbit Trail, is just unfair.

Cambria Suites is actually pretty nice, and has very competitive pricing. It isn't downtown, but not far.

It really is, the city planning here lately has been off the charts.
