Realistically speaking, is LSU:

A. #1 lock for overall CWS material
B. CWS appearance
C. Super Regional appearance
D. Regional appearance

I’m going with B, but my knowledge on this team is limited. Can some of the baseball quants give their better educated reasoning?

They’re gonna rake but our staff is gonna be 3 new guys. Hopefully Gilbert and Hess can lock down Friday and Saturday.

Ranked 18 I think. Maybe a rebuilding year. Pitching next year should be back, but I’m good if we just compete for the West. Arky is going to be VERY good as well as MSU and Ole Piss.

I think our staff will be fine. Hess, Gilbert, and one of the freshmen we'll be fine there. My question is who is going to step up in the bullpen. Sucks that Eric Walker got hurt.

Hoping for C, but with all 3 starters being new on the mound I’m trying to calm down my expectations.

Pitching will be a question mark. If hess can last 6 innings and not gas out like he did in the past, we’ll be fine. We lost a lot of guys, but we always reload and seem to figure it out

C - should be potent with the bats. Solid in the field. Big questions on the mound.

CPM has his work cut out for him.

Ask anyone in Houston here if they care about baseball.
Houston had over a million people attend a parade honoring their baseball team last season. So, yeah, they care about baseball in Houston.

I feel more optimistic about this team than i did the 2016 team, but Ill say D right now having no knowledge of how the new guys step up and perform or not, but the ceiling can be B, and if they get to the CWS they would have as good a shot as anyone there.

Lineup will be very good. If Hess and Gilbert can pitch to potential they will be a very hard to beat 1-2. Sunday, midweek and bullpen will be a lot of new faces and that’s where I could see a struggle.

A super is definitely attainable but several freshman would have to be very good very early to get any further.

I'll go with a C+, as the talent is there. Long season and progress can be made with the young guys. Seems that LSU always gets stronger on the back end of the schedule. Hopefully, the young arms don't hit a wall late in the season.
I look for an exciting season with ups & downs.

D. This looks like a rebuilding year. 2011 style, but a little bit better.

LSU is going to on the road in the Regionals this year. I say we have a losing conference record this year...14-16 very realistic. SEC West is tough and our East opponents aren't bad.

Rebuilding year?

LSU baseball shouldn’t have those and it’s sad so many of y’all are satisfied with the above.
