Emmert had a good one picked but Cusimano wrecked it all. Skip was the compromise pick.

What did Cusimano do? Only asking because he was a friend of my family. I was too young to understand the politics, I just appreciated the access we got to events.

It’s also a program that can attract speedsters to your football team.

He was a meddler. He was the only board member who played football for LSU so he thought he should rule the race when it came to football. He caused a lot of problems over the years and I'm sure some others will chime in and spell out what they were

If Pat Henry stayed at LSU, they would have 50 titles. Bob Broadhead hired him and had the vision. Bob Broadhead also hired Skip, the father of LSU baseball. That is what I’m talking about vision. Good ADs see greatness

Broadhead had vision. With him as AD, LSU did well in many sports. I think we finished 2nd one year in overall placement for all sports and I believe it was to a California school that had all sorts of sports that LSU didn’t even field teams in.

Well said.
I’ve been saying this for a long time. Skip Bertman was a horrible AD and tight wad. He screwed football, baseball and Track because he was either jealous or just didn’t care enough.
Loved him as a coach and consider him and Dedeaux as the best ever, but as an AD, he was pure shite.

I will answer that. How many people have physically been to a track meet at LSU?

many
Also went to the Texas Relays nearly annually since moving back to get a glimpse of what LSU may look like as they used to send several teams.
I’ve missed the last couple. I was there when Mondo broke the Jr WR record.
There was terrible weather the night before and I thought it would be cancelled that day. The forecast wasn’t looking good. Glad I went.

Boo.
You can’t explain it any other way. Boo was the reason for that last Mens title. Look at the timing.

Skip lost Nick and Pat within a 12 month stretch.

I was in track and appreciate the sport, but Nick brought in more money in one year at LSU than Pat probably did in his entire track coaching career. Honestly, nobody cried tears when Pat left.

Not a SINGLE track program in NCAA history has ever “made money”. Going back to Pre and everyone that has ever ran in Track Town. I just completely disagree with this opinion with Nick and Pat. The GOAT McDonnell at Arky lost a lot more money than he brought in. It is about titles. There are really only 2 revenue sports and it’s because of TV revenue.
LSU WBB has lost roughly 16 million the last couple seasons but people would die if Mulkey left…
Pat, Mulkey and McDonnell are all examples of coaches losing a ton of money at their respective universities but people cared about them because of how great they are/were.

He was selected basically only because LSU wanted him to deliver the new fees and ticket price increases to the patrons. He also ushered in the "extract every nickel from the patron without delivering any additional consumer surplus" era.

You used to park there for years? Now you pay for it and you have to show up the day before each game to buy a non exclusive pass.
