and here we go. You can't just merely count up the total wins and say "yay! 10-win season! It's all good!"

It's who and how we lose. If we get shelled by Bama and Arky and don't win the West, I don't care that we beat Jax State, Missouri, Southern Miss, South Alabama, and a few decent teams to get to 10 wins.

I care about beating the teams we need to beat to get to win the West, which will then give us a shot at the playoff. That should be our goal every year - and particularly this year with all of our returning starters.

10 wins sounds nice, but if we lose to two Western division teams, it means we didn't get it done against the better teams that are the meat of our schedule.

Miles should be fired if he doesn't beat Bama OR win the SEC West, regardless of record

Miles will be at LSU as long as he wants to. The season record depends on QB play at this point.

although this may be the most talented roster (possibly ever) we've had, we still have BH and the lame duck coach that only has a job because of the fear of public scrutiny from state citizens too ignorant to decipher the difference between state funds and private donations. "this is our year" has grown tiresome and stale. its just not as much fun anymore.

That's why the odds are very long that I'll be ok with a 10-2 season.

Wow just looked it up. No team from the east or west has ever advanced to the SECCG with 2 intra-division losses.

2001 LSU and 2010 USC each made the SECCG with 3 total SEC losses, but only 1 intra-division loss.

Exactly. While it may be possible, it is incredibly unlikely that LSU could make history and go 10-2 with 2 intra-division losses and win the division. If the season goes the way the OP predicts, there aren't going to be very many happy campers.

great. You go right ahead and be happy with 10-2 even if it means we don't win the West.

I, on the other hand, will expect better.

By the way, do you think Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, Michigan State, Florida State, Oregon, etc. are all happy with 10-2 if they don't even make their conference championship game??? I don't think so.

Because our recruiting, facilities, support, tradition, and other resources are as good, if not better, than those types of programs.

If Bama isn't one of the 2, I'm okay with that.

If you lose to BAma and Ark you don't play in the SEC championship or make playoffs

Your logic is faulty

10-2 would be a great season and a new year day bowl. Miles would have to lose 4 games to be fired

Yeah yeah we all know that madden clowns like you think teams should win every game every year. Look, clown(s), go find a fantasy football game site and jerk each other off all you want to, but don't expect people that deal in the reality of real life football to treat lunacy like 10 wins being a disappointment with anything but scorn. Now go hump someone else's leg.

If King Alexander wouldn't have stepped in, he would be unemployed right now. You have no clue.

I admit I'm a nega-tiger and sure, we may bitch and moan about our performance along the way, but no rational human being would complain about 15-0 and a NC.

Bro I've been complaining since 2006. I'm not stopping now.

because only the intellectually superior can appreciate a drubbing by ole miss, arky and bama. they see beyond the mediocre preparation, in game coaching and results. its like waxing philosophically about "movies" with someone that watches "films". teach me about fine wines and the wizardry of indie bands. if you enjoyed last year, youre a true aficionado of "near adequate".

Still no real QB. I don't expect better than 10-2. I really don't care anymore. Miles does what he wants and logic isn't gonna find its way to campus just because it's a new season.

That cynical statement is simplistic and most often there's a reason he's #2, like maybe no wheels, or a little green and slow at reads, progressions, etc.
Remember the post was in context to very real possibility of sole loss to gumps and not win SECW being a shite season/grounds for termination.
When Lee had to come in vs '09 gumps most everyone knew it was fat lady time, but in limited film this year's #2 seems to have some mobility.

As long as Miles continues to be a nice guy I'm ok with whatever record. Having a big time football program is a lot more than wins and losses people.
