Friday- Guidry
I get the sentiments, but i like him at the end of games.
when he mentions hybrid guys, thats prob him.
Too many good pitchers for him to be a Fri night guy

Shores probably.

I think Shores will be the Friday guy, and I think Eyanson ends up the Saturday guy. I'm all for Guidry being groomed as a starter but I'd rather use him in leverage on Friday or Saturday and, if not, he can start on Sunday. I feel similarly about Anderson. Ware probably also fits that role. I know it may not be ideal to have a TBD for Sunday games, for various reasons, but it also serves some purpose.
We'll see alot of shuffling in the early going of spring all the way into conference. I don't actually disagree that Jay might start Guidry in game 1 of the season. I just don't know if that's what we'll see by conference.
ETA: I actually see a world in which Eyanson goes Friday, lefty (Anderson or Ware) goes Saturday, and Shores goes Sunday if Jay prefers not to go TBD on Sunday. I'm obviously very high on Eyanson, despite fall stats. And Shores would provide a degree of comfort for Sunday.

Didn't he pitch the final out in the Championship game as a freshmen
yeah
Then teams figured him out.
You are wrong here. Maybe he is doing better now, but he needs a couple more pitches in order to be a Friday starter. He won't be able to go through the order more than once without added pitches.

In his Fresh year, he got hot down the stretch, very hot.
It was hard to trust him this past year.
He isn't a Friday night starter. If he is, I'm with the other poster, we are screwed. EOD

Thanks for the work here....good job.
You should probably stop arguing about Guidry though. Not a good look. We get it, you like him on Friday. Most of us don't.

No need to be a dick about someone's opinion that has been knowledgeable about the program. I don't necessarily think Guidry will be our Friday night guy but I also haven't seen him any this fall, just the last two years.

Thank you very much for all of your reports.

Like I said, it is a little farfetched. I will repeat though, I heard from an insider very close to the pitching situation two years ago that the staff was comtemplating wether to groom Guidry as a starter or closer. I was surprised when I heard it. Apparently the staff has always felt he could be a starter.
This fall he is definitely being groomed as a starter. I believe this summer he was in Arizona working with Onedrive on his pitching or s.omething like that. He is focused in.
Jay also picked him to wear #8 for a reason. He is a team leader and the team rallies around him. After throwing three dominant innings this fall he came back to the dugout with some choice words and his teammates lit up.He has that dog in him and the fire in his bellly.

In Biloxi shores started game 1 with Anderson game 2
I know they scrimmaged that sat in Biloxi but Guidry didn’t throw against Samford
Guidry started against ull in that scrimmage
Would not shock me if he gets a chance to start but in game 1 you want someone that can get you deep in the game to keep bullpen fresh for weekend
Is that Guidry? I don’t know

This is what I was thinking. Was trying to remember….didn’t Paul use a guy that way?
N2, keep bringing the opinions. Love this. Choices for the coaching staff is one of two things: No studs stand out, or plenty of studs from which to choose.

I know Shores is the most likely scenario and I like having Guidry in that hybrid role. I Just imagine Guidry getting fired up to go up against a stud pitcher on the opposing team followed up by Ware, Shores on Saturday and Anderson on Sunday.
Jay mentioned in his recent interview that he is going to stretch out 8 pitchers and then decide in the spring who is doing what. Like CCox mentioned, you have your top 7 and it will work out however it does.

What is your hesitation with Eyanson? I know his stats/outings weren't superb in the fall at LSU but he's electric. He has Team USA experience, too. And, by all accounts, he was pretty damn good even in that setting.
ETA: Anthony Eyanson, RHP, UC San Diego/LSU- Showing a loose and quick arm from a high three-quarter release point, Eyanson impressed at the trials. He filled up the zone with a 95-97 mph fastball and a hammer-time 12/6 breaker in the upper-70s. It showed as a plus-plus offering with consistent spin and control with repeated spot-ups to his armside. He also showed a harder version of his breaker, a power slurve at 83-84. There also looked to be more in the tank with his No. 1. It’s a pitch that could very well bump into the triple-digits as early as this fall in his new home of Baton Rouge.

Id say a better chance he spot starts on sundays if not needed for high leverage on friday or saturday.
Think anderson and shores will be our game 1 and 2 starters with ware as a possibility

Nobody has been able to hit guidry this fall. With that being the case, why can't he be the Friday guy. I'm sure he's added another pitch by now or has something he can go to occasionally.
He was trusted in high leverage situations in multiple seasons so I'm not sure where that's coming from

I believe Eyanson was working on a four seamer this fall. Development was prioritized over results this fall for him, so I don't really know what he has yet. There is definitely a scenario where he is a starter in 2025, I just haven't seen it in the fall.

I think you’re getting too caught up with “mental makeup” here. That fire that Guidry has can get you through 6 innings in a loser goes home game in a regional but it’s not enough to get you through 16 starts and 90+ innings in the SEC.
I would not be surprised to see Guidry start a game or two this season. I would be absolutely stunned for him to be a regular weekend starter much less the Friday night guy.
