qb lee to transfer to Texas Tech.
Jordan Jefferson to be LSUs new Rohan Davey and No. 1.
Russel Sheppard hopefully will be LSUs new running QB.
I hope QB Hatch recovers as he could be good but he looks to be injury prone.
My comment to Fl. and Ga. and ala. is the gravey train of free interceptions TDs is over by LSU.

I hope JL never sees the feild again. If JJ has an impressive bowl JL is finished!
JJ starts shep backup like rp.
specs1 bt robbob, may be JL's rel. parents or jl himself. I know no one In the real world who supports JL.
I hope JJ has the game of his life and jl transfers to 1aa.

At the beginning of the year, I want him on the field for every offensive play, be it at quarterback, wide receiver, tailback, tight end, anywhere. I want him to become the most dangerous thing to ever play offensive football. With his speed, quickness, agility, body type, and ridiculous skill set, he's definitely capable. If JJ can develop in the offseason, he can stay that way, otherwise I see him taking a majority of the snaps at QB by the end of next year.

How should LSU use Sheppard next year?

Red shirt. We have two other QBs with game experience ahead of him.

Yes,
We should Redshirt him! But Good Luck to Les talking him into sitting out a year.

I can forsee a formation where RS and whoever else at QB are set up standing next to each other and just before the snap one of them goes into motion. Might as well have some fun.

too risky! he will be #1 qb by mid season!
You people amaze me. Everybody is always ready for the next big thing! RS would be much better served playing a complimentary role next seasaon (TT as a freshman)

Percy Harvin was the correct answer. We already have a quarterback.

i seriously doubt RS gets a redshit...
I would like to see him used early in the year, kinda like RP was. come in as a running qb in situations, with his role/responsiblity increasing with each game.. remember we are one injury away from him being the only backup. we need him to get some experienc early...

Hmmm.
It can or should go down as follows:
If JJ wins the starting job then RS takes the role that Andrew Hatch had during the past season. He comes in runs the option, the speed option, the read option, wildcat, and/or throw a few passes like Perriloux did last year to throw the defense off. I think Hatch will be the odd man out. Unfortunately for him. I just dont see him matching athleticism with RS. I can see RS catching on to enough of the playbook where he can take over Hatch's role.
If JL wins out the starting job. RS should red shirt. Its obvious that JJ will be the number 2 and Hatch or RS number 3. Basically he will be riding pine anyway so why not red shirt him anyway.
Im thinking thats the only way.

Redshirt is the way it should go. We will have JJ and JL and AH all having game experience. Why risk getting Shep hurt or trying to throw him into early and completley eff erverything up for him.
I say give him a year to adjust to the game and get a year to learn the offense. If things get real bad you can always pull the redshirt off of him.

No way you can keep this kid off the field. To say we already have competent QB's is a joke. I know it is rare to see a major college start a freshman (but see Leak, etc) It can be done. Shepard appears to be a smart kid and will have spring and summer to learn. I really disagree with the use of a quarterback only on "running plays." If thet's all you use him for, then defenses may just pick up on that. Besides, have you seen his film? He has a good arm and is accurate (I know, they're "highlights", but he looks good) I say if you get a recruit who can be one of the best ever, use him. We cannot afford to waste another year waiting for a quarterback. Ok, rip away.

Completing less than half his passes.
He will play next year, but whether it is at QB or a Harvin-type role depends largely on the development of JJ and JL.
If we're starting a true freshmen QB, we're not playing in the SECCG.

Russell Shepard(RS) won't red shirt (rs).
Barring a rash of injuries he won't be the starter. The offense is complicated and there's just too much to learn as QB. Let's face it, you have to have it down pat or you come out tentative, and if you came out tentative you get eaten alive.
So, GC will design a small package of plays for RS as QB... maybe 8-10 plays, mostly runs. He'll likely get 2-10 snaps at QB each game. I suspect that he'll also see some snaps as a slot back (The reverse option pass should be a blast). In this scenario he'll have a chance to something that few have accomplished... score 3 TD's in a game, one by rushing, one by receiving, and one by passing.
