Zing.

Except for the fact that since 1992-93 (19 seasons) we have lost 10 or more conference games 12 times.

Is 15 yrs long enough time for LSU forgive Johnny Jones? I wonder if LSU would ever even consider him after what he took the blame for.

Just because his team embarrassed LSU, (who hasn't) doesn't mean he is qualified to coach here. Have you checked on his season record lately? Even Arkansas State is out performing them in conference.

He had a lot more talent left over from the Brady years than the next coach will inherit from Johnson.

Dunno, Smoke was pretty bad. Ruined that program for a while.

Doubt it. And that next coach won't begin his LSU tenure within the next two years either.

SEC in first year with the same players minus an NBA Randolf and won the SEC. C'mon man!

He gets ONE more year after this one....if there isn't marked improvement, IMO he's gone.

As he should be....

It looks like Aleva will give Trent at least one more year. Something that has not been discussed much is the fate of his assistant coaches--two of them have very thin resumes, it looks like they followed him here from Stanford. Bringing in a more experienced assistant(s) with a better track record should be something Johnson should strongly consider to show all of us he cares & is not satisfied with the status quo.

He needs to be gone ASAP. He cannot coach, recruit, motivate and is a PR nightmare. Knowing Alleva he will probable do the PC thing and give him another year.

You think it's easy recruiting out of state guys? Most kids wanna stay in state or go to a top-notch basketball school. Unfortunately, Trent doesn't have it as easy as Brady had it. Remember that the whole starting line up from that Final Four team several years back was from Louisiana....and if i remember correctly, they already knew each other pretty well and had there minds set on playing at LSU together. I'm sure even Trent could have gotten all of them here as well. Trent just didn't have a lot of in state talent to work with recently. And don't forget that Trent just won over an McDonald's All-American from another state.

I think Alleva needs to show some balls and tell him that he can coach without his two cronies or all three of them can find jobs.

Dude's from Jackson. It's not like he pulled a top 50 player from North Dakota. Also, it's not impossible to pull in top out of state recruits at LSU. See:

Koundjia
Neltner
Rolle
Voogd
Dupree
Smith

I don't remember any of them being a McD AA, but most of them (save Super Dupe) came from farther away than Jackson. I won't discuss the Daddy's out-of-staters for reasons that I'll leave out of this thread.

overlook the top 20 class he brought in this year

Top 20 class this year, if this is a top 20 class the rest of the country is in serious trouble. One kid in this class is truly an impact player Turner, the others are projects at best. Any other circumstances and TJ would be done at the end of this year, Smoke was fired quickly and wasn't this bad, Alleva needs to admit tj is a mistake and move on before we lose out on all the talent this state has in next couple of years.

Buckskin would kick that POS right in the nutz. When JJ got up 10 minutes later, all black and blue around the groin area, Buckskin would kick him again. I generally don't hate on alumni but that guy deserves as many kicks in the nutz as one leg could kick. Then Buckskin would start kicking him with the other leg.
