So, I guess the next question is do we have at least 3 for next year? Seems as though we always lose one or two great prospects each season.

With the way every thing looks right now this will be one of the strongest pitching staffs we've had in a very long time

You have Hess, Hilliard, Labas, Storz, Walker, Marceaux and Hill all vying for 4 starter slots. 2 of those are going to the bullpen that's adding a lot of arms on top of what's returning. We're going to be just fine on the hill

ETA: Changed Henry to Hill. Got the names mixed up

Need to have 4 or 5 to win it or have a great shot to win it. I think we will have that next year if Labas, Stortz, and Walker all return at full health. Then if some of the others elevate the game we will be sitting pretty in 2018!

I would trade 2 of them maybe 3 for a hitting coach.

There is not a single long term situation that I would trade good pitching for good hitting

The simple and most comprehensive answer is that you can't have enough good quality arms on your roster. Kind of like running backs in football. You never have enough.

If you have five solid quality catchers then you have too many. Pitching is different. One bad inning can cost a game.

And yes, we will have some bad innings next year and we will lose games because of it but more quality arms you have the more you mitigate the chances of that happening.

If there is one position where you want to see an embarrassment of riches it's pitcher.

Watched the Tech pitcher carve up UF batters with that spinner on the edges of the plate yesterday. LSU doesn't have a pitcher who can consistently spot the ball like that.

It’s not the hitting coach. CPM literally tells them to swing at any pitch they like. It’s why we are best at strikeouts and worst at hitting into doubleplays.

We lead in world at swinging at first pitch balls, but that’s not a kept stat.

I don’t mind being aggressive early in the count, especially against a strikeout pitcher. It’s swinging at a pitch outside the zone on a 3-0,2-0 count that gets me. I understand that’s a fastball count, but you still have to be smart.

Good thing is with all the pitchers returning you can work the newcomers in whatever role they can fill and be most comfortable while they also develop.

Plus injuries will happen, always do.

This is how Florida has done it recently, Singer and Kowar didn't have to come in and be the aces early in their career at Fla. They had others to show them the way.

Well, we should all rejoice you are not the baseball coach.

Great, deep pitching > great, deep hitting.

Every. Damn. Time.

We need to become better hitters! Also most college players have forgotten how to bunt!

I just really wish Hess would move back to closer. We could have Peterson middle relief and Hess closing and just absolutely close out all of our close games.

I want to put our pitchers in a bubble until next season. No injuries damnit.

Probably never learned to. If you are playing at LSU then it's likely you didn't do much bunting in life. Barring injury I can't remember LSU having a staff as deep as next year could be.

I wouldn’t. Strong pitching outweighs good hitting every time.
