bullshite. I could play devil's advocate and name a few off the top of my head, yet nothing close to the "30+ qualified coaches" that gets touted on here, which is the entire point.

Almost any P5 coach would have made mores sense than 0. 30 is conservative. You will not be satisfied by any of the names.

Well then what are we arguing about? Did those guys get a call? If not then that's the entire point.

The coaches before and after 0 at Ole Miss had success. 0 was literally the worst in their history and bookended by at least somewhat decent tenures. It was a fair concern no matter how much you say it isn't. Doesn't change the fact that no one is talking about it now except the cheeri0s.

it should be so easy to do though, yet no one does. Even at the time we were looking for a coach no one could come up with this name of this coach who we could get who was going to be so successful here. They kept trotting out the same old names here and on the coaches changes board that now they say they never wanted. Just say Fuente like the other two guys did since he is the one name that came up at the time that we maybe could have gotton who hasn't looked like a big pile of dogshit where ever they are at now (hindsight is 20/20 but we will see when he meets notre dame in a couple weeks). The one guy we did get, who had the worse resume of all of them but had other attributes that the people that had actual input into the hire liked, hasn't looked like a big pile of dogshit.

In other words, if coaches better than Orgeron grew on trees, we would have hired one. Glad we agree.

It's easy when he made the exact same mistakes in year one of his new job that he made at his old job and since he specifically promised not to make those mistakes, it was even easier to make those comparisons and criticize him for it.

It's already been done, numerous times. I'm speaking from experience. The names get shot down without fail. Total waste of time to have the "who would you have hired" name game.

Ughh, if you don’t it to come up, QUIT bringing it up and making this completely stupid claim. The 2 coaches before and the 2 after O at Ole Miss all had at least 1!9 or 10 win season. The only options are not NC or 10-25 over 3 years

No one's saying he had to win a championship. But don't be worse in year 3 than you were in year 1.

What top coach would want to work for alleva? The duke scandal and his treatment of les would scare off anyone worth their soul.

A HC isn't suppose to tell his OC to clean up the penalties? Is that meddling?

Everything is relative.

He wasn’t just a bad coach at Ole Miss but a historically bad coach for Ole Miss

Compared to what he’s done at LSU of course it’s better, but is there a coach alive who wouldn’t look better at LSU in 2017 than Ole Miss in 2007?

You’re gonna win way more races in a new Ferrari than a beat up olds mobile.

But it still doesn’t mean you’re a better driver

ALL THAT BEING SAID he is in a much better situation which means he can relax a bit and trust the people around him more which makes a better coach.

No, meddling is meddling.

He's admitted to this.

Ed O was not the 3rd best option. A name doesn’t matter particularly since you would judge them with 20/20 hindsight

but it is who we hired and after you make the hire the coach is judged on hindsight. At the end of this season we will have hindsight 20/20 on how this season played out and we can better determine whether it was a good hire or not. ONce LSU hires a coach the only school I care about how successful he was at is at LSU based on 20/20 hindsight.

Oh lord, now you're going to pretend 0 didn't meddle and let Canada have free reign of the offense like he said he would when campaigning for the job?

He shouldn't have hired an OC that didn't run the kind of offense that he wanted to run AGAIN. He did the exact same thing at Ole Miss and admitted to it in an interview.

The Canada and Joseph hires were a disaster. The lack of a special teams coach was a disaster. People expected fans to just be on board with the changes and new hires when he hadn't shown up this past off season that he was capable of making good hires. That's why people were skeptical.
