My interest is definitely waning. Hopefully Chicken is right and someone will step in an fix this shite show. I may take a step back until then.

It’s tough. It’s my favorite sport from my childhood, and probably the one that resembles those days the least.
The entitled athlete/family era is annoying. It’s led to soft locker rooms, too much look-at-me, and a complete lack of values. I mean, can Michigan (and anybody else) alums and power brokers not think of a better way for $12 mil to go to the university? This started with the facilities arms race and has snowballed.
Honestly, NIL hasn’t kept me from attending as many games, that is purely financial and distance. But when I do go, the highlight of my day is tailgating and seeing old friends. The game is an afterthought.
These recruits aren’t worth nearly as much as they think. Take all the 5 stars and put them in the UFL. Guess what, attendance in that league won’t change. CFB is special because of the universities and gameday atmospheres. I wish we could get back to those roots, but it’s too far gone.

Think of all the reasons why you have come to dislike professional sports. All of them have come to the college game.
I played long ago and saw the way things were from the inside. Still, I never thought that I would/could ever come to dislike college football. I am at the point of letting go.
It makes me sad.

Yep I said after the 2019 NC and all the changes coming I would take a wait and see attitude. Well is has gone the way I thought it would. You have a system with no one in charge. The NCAA is a total joke. I have nothing against the teams with the cash taking advantage of the situation. They are within the rules which is really very limited rules. So who wants to sit around each Saturday and watch the Oregon team win championships? It's not apples and apples anymore. I will still watch LSU but it is not as important to me as it once was. Team attendance will start to drop when the money teams dominate the leagues. It will take awhile but the upper deck will be empty in a few years. I two life time fans like me telling me they will not be getting season tickets next year. They are feed up with rebuilding a new team every year, It's really players for hire with no loyalty to the school. So that's where we are sadly!
I no longer watch the NFL anymore but at least they have rules in place to have a fair and balanced league. The college game will die a slow death!

It’s sports in general. I’ve been a very spoiled fan with seemingly loyal athletes leading my teams (Cowboys, Spurs, LSU) to titles in my lifetime.
Get this, college is even WORSE than pro. At least in pro sports, you have a contract. You draft a guy knowing he will be on your team for a period of time. Leagues with a salary cap have a relatively level playing field. In CFB, there’s no salary cap, and nothing binding a paid player to a school anymore.

Soon as NIL started, my interest was waning… now, really don’t care.
I used to love college football.

Give up no. Take a break until they fix this shite…..yes

Odd to see fans of a blue blood school who consistently pulls in top recruiting classes complaining about a system that favors blue blood schools.
What's LSU not doing to keep up with the Joneses?

In days past there was kind of an attachment between the players and the fans. You felt like you knew them. They were part of a family. You followed their careers while they played for the Tigers.
Because there was loyalty, values, and didn’t revolve around getting your bag at the age of 18. I had classes with football/baseball/basketball players. They were students too. I remember almost getting run over by Jamarcus Russell on a moped. I remember seeing Hester and Flynn in 07 and then telling fans to “stick with us” after a tough loss. I remember Glen Davis sitting in my customary seat in a Howe-Russell lecture hall, only to find out he was in class so Andy Katz could do an on-campus segment about him. I remember eating scraps at Gatti’s because Glen Dorsey was in front of me and loaded up a couple of plates.
I could go on, but these people were like us. The guys now…no way. Few and far between.

I was born in 1967. Grew up watching college football during the 1980’s. First time going to Tiger Stadium with my dad around 1979. Always would watch LSU when the game was on television. Grew up with Jim Hawthorne on WJBO. 7-4 seasons did not bother me. I loved watching the old Southwest Conference during my college days. The game has changed. Not excited about playing players now-although it was a thing back when I was a young fan.
Glad I was able to watch LSU football play for four National Football Championships. The excitement is gone. I don’t see LSU competing dollar for dollar agains top rich state schools. Not happy about bidding wars. The game is not the same.

Im gonna give it another month or so and move on the baseball like I normally do. Watch a lil college basketball til March. Probably check out on the pro football once I get knocked out of fantasy.

College basketball died for much less.

College sports requires effort to enjoy the entertainment value. IE Money & Time.
The equilibrium between the amount of effort a person is willing to put in vs the balance of enjoyment they get out is unique to each individual.
For me, The on-court/field product is keeping me engaged but it's getting closer to a tipping point. When that point is reached I'll no longer plan around it, or spend for it, and find other things to fill that vacuum.
I was an avid NBA fan until a few years ago. The BS became more than I was willing to look beyond and I stopped going and watching. College is getting close.

Sounds selfish …but unless LSU men’s basketball is above average, I have no interest in following college basketball as a sport. When march madness comes around, I may follow a few games but if LSU is still below average, I just don’t care at all about the sport.

Not giving up but have more of a what ever attitude. Used to love recruiting but Iam giving up on that. No point getting excited anymore. Kids flipping right before signing day. And it will never be fixed unless there is some kind of cap and oversight. But I can't see that being done.

But will they fix it? I think it’s broken for good.
LSU can’t compete money wise either
And to someone else’s post about the Clemson game, how can I get excited about a game we are going to get our butts handed to us? BK can’t win openers

I will follow LSU football to my death...and probably continue to buy season tickets along the way...I have faith that someone beyond my pay grade will step in and fix the system. Sure, the Texas and Michigans of the world love the current system, but it is not sustainable and they will be foolish to not get on board with reforming what we have now.
The rich schools won’t have a choice, because the schools like us that have money but just not as much outnumber them even in just the SEC and Big 10.
Change is definitely coming. The presidents and probably even the networks know it’s necessary to preserve interest in the sport. It’s just a matter of whether that change is the gradual, stay in the NCAA and everyone agrees to some common sense guidelines while the courts stay the frick out of it, or the nuclear option that will take all of this new power that the players have and flush it. I’m betting on the latter, myself.

For me, I will still root for Nuss, Josh Williams, Mason Taylor, all the Weeks brothers. Transfers like Stinson and Alexander clearly are trying hard. I would rather root for true program guys like Nuss and Williams to go 8-4 than portaled-in pro players to go 10-2.
Will repeat a point I made 6 months ago: the USFL tried to sell me something called the “New Orleans Breakers”. Familiar helmets and jerseys but I have no idea if ANY owners, coaches or players had ANY connection to New Orleans and I never tuned in, not for 5 minutes, cannot name a single player not the coach for that matter. College football is going to find out that fans won’t just root for helmets and jerseys with familiar colors - passion will die off, stadiums will be downsized to 25-50k and it’ll be a “tv sport”.

I quit on the NFL after the bad pass interference call against the Saints when playing the Rams. It was clear to me then, the NFL is rigged. Then they went woke. That was it. Haven't watched the NFL since. I proved to myself I could survive without pro football. I don't miss it. Now, college appears rigged (three-loss Bama might be in the playoffs?). NIL, portal, recruiting madness, lengthy commercials making games too long, expensive tickets, touchdown dance antics, etc. I am watching FAR LESS college football over the last two years. The game is about to lose me. I know thousands feel the same way. Doesn't matter if they care or not. I enjoyed the time when the game was what it was. It's about time to move along.
